He's most likely healed up, but I would think since it's been knee/leg issues that it will be a chronic issue. It's tough when you have a lot of wear and tear on you and your body starts showing it for that to suddenly stop. He's a punishing runner, but he pays for that punishment, too.Zeke's been humbled. Perhaps he's drawing inspiration & resolve from that experience. The new look at least superficially suggests an intent to remake himself. I wish him well.
Haven't heard anything about his current state of health, or the nagging injuries that appear to have hampered him to some degree the past couple of seasons in Dallas?
With enough hairspray he wouldn't have even needed a helmet. He had the natural padded helmet didn't he?
How many times did it look like a defender was about to land a heavy blow only for Emmitt to turn it into a glancing blow at best?I always marveled at Emmitt Smith's ability to avoid direct hits. He was amazing at that
He probably doesn't really get enough credit for that as the NFL rushing leader. Fans can argue over who was the best back, but none was better than he was at keeping himself healthy and continuing to play at a high level. Sure, he had to play through some injuries, but being slippery was a key to his success. How many times did it look like a defender was about to land a heavy blow only for Emmitt to turn it into a glancing blow at best?
Only way to survive for extended period when you are in a collision position like RB.
I can see him getting 200 yards, and I can see him getting 800 yards. I am interested to see how it turns out.I think 500 yards rushing would be good for him considering he wont be the bell cow there.
Anything goes with Dallas. I'm guessing there were some influence behind that development, and Zeke wanted the paycheck enough to tow the company line.He couldn't get a haircut for us?
I agree with you about that P2R. In Zeke's early years as a Cowboy he had the speed and versatility to be used in a variety of ways, but too often the Cowboys failed to take advantage of those qualities. If they had made more effort to get Zeke open out in the flat for example, IMO he would've been a terror. Zeke could also have been used more as a receiver than he was, but they didn't take advantage of that. Instead, it was usually Zeke up the middle more times than not. And like you said, the defense knew that, but the Cowboys didn't care, they did it anyway. IMO Garret wasted Zeke's talent in those early days. That was JG for ya.Man, I'm glad to see Zeke playing for a good coach. He's still good enough for a role. The problem with him in Dallas is that any time Zeke is in the game, the defense is able to predict where the play might go relatively well.
He needs to bulk up and be the Pats' backup center.
