I say we wait for details to surface before deciding whether or not he's a rapist or she's an extortionist. In the meantime, it sure is interesting to see the sides that some of you take based off of very little actual information.

Mike has kinda become the teflon Cowboy:eek:: He's been knocked down so many times but he never goes away.

Look, this thing is 2 1/2 years old, the cops say there's no evidence left, what chance does she have outside a payoff? Ben survived and so will Mike. The American public has become very cynical about what these kinda things have become in this country against athletes when they pop up several years later, a money grab. She should have stood her ground 31 months ago, now she may be SOL, outside dragging Mike through the mud, and if she was raped, she really messed up not doing everything possible to carry through with charges then.

Two and a half year wait? No criminal charges pending? She signed an waiver of prosecution the day after she reported it?

Seems to me there is a bit more than "very little" information out there.

I'm sure it's an exaggeration, that this was probably stirred up to get money knowing that Irvin's rep can't take any more hits like this and would likely pay up quick just to shut it up. Even if it's completely true, I'd still trust him with my daughter...if I had one. Hell, I'd pray he'd be with anyone in my family. I'd kill to have that kind of leadership in my family tree!

I cannot dismiss anything with Irvin even though I loved the way he played. He has continued to have incidents pop up like the car jackers, Pipe in his car and now this. She also passed a lie detector means something and cannot be discarded as nothing.

I never want to come off as insensitive towards women who really are sexually assaulted, but this just screams bull**** in every way. If she wanted to put it behind her, she wouldn't be trying to extort him now.

Waiting this long to do anything. Plus everything else. This case has no chance. So why file it?

Woman accuses former Dallas Cowboys wide out Michael Irvin of rape at Florida hotel

Staff and Wire Reports

Friday, February 5th 2010, 4:00 AM

A woman who claimed she was raped 2-1/2 years ago by Cowboys Hall of Famer and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin filed a civil suit against him Thursday, according to the Miami Herald.

According to Broward (Fla.) State Attorney spokesman Ron Ishoy, the office has looked into the case and is expected to reach a conclusion next week.

No criminal charges have been filed.

According to the suit, the woman (referred to as Jane Doe), says the attack happened in the late hours of July 4 or early July 5 in 2007 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Irvin's lawyer, Larry Friedman, called the accusations "totally untrue."

According to Seminole Tribe spokesman Gary Bitner, the alleged assault was reported to Seminole police on July 20, 2007.

"They investigated it thoroughly," Bitner said. "Although by that time there was no longer any forensic evidence or surveillance video."

David Lister, the woman's attorney, told the Herald his client and Irvin's counsel had been in negotiations for a financial settlement, but those talks stalled, prompting the lawsuit.

"There were discussion back and forth between the parties," Lister said, adding that Irvin's representatives had asked for a settlement figure. "Nothing came of it."

Friedman called the discussions attempts at extortion.

According to the report, Friedman said the woman came forward last year, after Irvin had appeared on a few episodes of the television show "Dancing With the Stars."

Irvin grew up in Fort Lauderdale and was a star wide receiver at the University of Miami before his Hall of Fame career with the Cowboys.

In 1996 he pleaded no contest to a cocaine charge and later that same year, Irvin and a teammate were accused of sexually assaulting a woman, but an investigation revealed the woman had made up the story. She soon recanted.

It is not admissible because it is accurate about 92% of the time. Most law enforcement agencies use it to rule out suspects. So tell them it doent work.

It's a shame the way people can say anything they want to drag your name in the mud, then nothing is done to them for lying.

If she believes it is true it would not register as a lie. Most serial killers and other deeply disturbed people pass these things. My brother-in-law's father is a schizophrenic who believes the Government monitors his thoughts. He would pass a lie detector test because he truly believes this. I think it was the guy who killed Rebecca Sheafer who passed a lie detector test that he was in a relationship with her.

This woman could have been bought a drink in a bar, developed a fantasy and now believes it to be true. We don't know. But the lie detector test is not fail safe.

If your logic is a lie detector can be beaten should we not consider the possibilty Irvin is guilty?

Similar circumstances with a non-athlete with a track record Irvin has would similiar consideration be given?

These are my only points not who is guilty or not.
