I loved him until 2011 when it was clear he was not the franchise a QB i thought he was. He was a poor decision maker

Prime example

When the Cowboys was down 26-21 in the playoff game vs the packers, it was 4th and 2 with 5 mins left. So Romo decides on 4th and 2 to throw a bomb to dez when he could have threw to someone else to get the 1st down and keep the drive alive. Why not get the 1st down first so you can drain more clock and score a TD with little time left? That fool was trying to go for the TD so we could take a 2 pt lead with 5 mins left? That game proved that Romo was too stupid to be a franchise QB. Dak would have ran for the 1st down to keep the drive alive or threw a 4 yd pass.
Hide sight is always 20/20. It's a fools errand to think like that. I don't compare Romo to Dak because they have different skillsets and the "woulda, coulda" mind game is foolish IMO. You don't know what you thing you know. If Dak does go to a SB with the Cowboys, it's still a team sport and thus their accomplishments does not rest on any singular player.

While there is some truth to this, it's obvious you're parroting something that has been discussed in this board ad nauseam. Still doesn't disqualify Romo from making a comment about another player's ability.

What did he have to bring up Primetime for anyway? Is it because he thinks he is BIG TIME because he has a CBS job? I'm glad primetime roasted him on TV because it was no reason for romo to bring his name up

I wasn't in his shoes and so I don't know what he knew at that time. I can't say it was stupid. I made it clear how a feel about this and your hide sight.

I laid out the facts to confirm that it was a dumb pass

1. It was 4th and 2
2. 5 mins left

You get the 1st down and continue driving. Romo thought it was the 1st qtr and threw a bomb

Absolutely Hilarious how one could blame Romo for a clutch perfect pass with the whole season on the line and absolutely nail it. The goal is to score points there, maybe Romo needed to catch it too.

I never thought Deion was all that. Other than his speed what did he have? Irvin used him up. So did Rice if I remember right. If a team kept his speed in mind and used the right routes against him he was beatable.
Deion was all that, best cb that I have ever witnessed, but u r correct in saying that Irvin abused him. That one pass down the sideline in the championship game Deion clearly interfered with Irvin's arm and that is when Switzer got the penalty. Complete pass to Irvin and good possibility Dallas goes on to win that game.

Unlike Deion--who says he "doesn't know the address there"--Romo generally lives on the high road.

There is history here and just some plain personal differences in how the two go about life.

  • Recall that Romo is the guy who a few years ago when his contract was coming up, said that after all the emotional and physical times he's shared with the franchise he loves, it'd seem very weird going somewhere else in search or a Super Bowl and/or more money. He said sure, it's be great to win one, but not remotely as great as winning one here, where he's a part of the community and plans to raise his kids. Think how polar opposite that is from Deion.

  • Deion has been by far the most vocal basher of Tony compared to any other former Cowboy. Pearson, Staubach, Aikman, Irvin, White...and so many others have strongly defended him. But Deion was pretty ruthless. Romo never fired back. When they were on the set once there was a slight comment/joke that drew laughs, but that's about it.

  • Then there's the physical sacrifice side of this. Think about it. On one side you have a guy (a truly epic cover corner, btw) who would sidestep a tackle at the risk of being hurt and never really played through anything of note. Then you have Romo, who played through absolute torture in his back (the worst kind of pain) and on other occasions, with broken ribs and even a punctured lung. Just so opposite.

  • Then there's the basketball thing; where Deion talked relentless trash about the white kid from Wisconsin never really playing vs real ballers...then getting schooled beyond comprehension for everyone to see by Romo. This after being warned by several Cowboys (I think TO and others) that he better shut up....that Romo was pretty good. lol Blood boiling stuff for this-skinned trash talker to take that publically.

  • Also the local charity and how they go about it. Romo donating to needy areas under the radar, while Deion goes full on Prime Prep with all of it's sleazy and illegal doings. Prime Prep did some good things too though..and helped some needy kids. But it was so self-serving at times to Deion as well. Very different approach to giving back.

It just goes on and on.

btw, I don't hate Deion. His style is not my style, but so what. He is who he is. My wife tells me that he was real gentleman with she and her friends at Florida State. That he wasn't a big partier, always put on happy face, and didn't disrespect any of them.
And, he was maybe the best coverage CB of all time.
Any more color on that basketball game? Have seen this mentioned before.

SMH. All the fourth quarter comebacks and you give 1 example to use that as justification he was a poor decision maker. Fans.

Hey rags. I'm only going by what I was told by a buddy that was there--so it was direct but not by me-- and then some recollection from some radio trash talk way back when. I think there were many basketball stories, but Sanders was not a part of that normally.
From what I recall, when Sanders was first drafted, he claimed he could play for the Hawks. lol
The dude WAS a great athlete. Some forget he even played in the major leagues for a while.
But supposedly Romo schooled him pretty bad on the court after a lot of serious talking by Sanders. Then again, he was much younger.
