Michael Irvin criticizing Roy Williams

Not true. Romo has thrown some high, uncatchable balls to Witten and Crayton too. I think Romo and Roy are both to blame on some level. I just hope they figure it out and soon. Sunday night would be a great place to start.
Take off your silver and blue-colored glasses and look at it realistically for a minute. Generally speaking, Romo has no problem connecting with Witten. Or Austin. Or Crayton. Or even Sam Hurd in very limited playing time.

Who ever made that video should be punched in the **** for using such gay music

While that music certainly does suck, it's still about a million times better than the music that usually accompanies these highlight videos, including the other one posted in this thread.

I wonder if instead of being on the same page, Roy just reads a hell of a lot slower than Romo.

Someone get this man hooked on phonics.

When you score low on the Wonderlic....you probably have to read the page several times to understand it. Dallas probably needs to hire a personal tutor so he can understand his role...

So, if he took Irvin's advice, and it worked, how many drops would it reverse? One? Two maybe?

Very little impact on this season. That was my point.

Good point, but I think it is orthogonal to Irvin's message. He wasn't talking about RW dropping passes. He was talking about RW generally being unwilling to take advice or change the way he does things. The anecdote was just a way add support to that suggestion.

I don't know if what Irvin says is true, but the bottom line is that Romo's not going anywhere, and he's having success with other receivers. RW is the one that is going to have to change if he is to have any more success than he's currently having.

According to the broadcast team for the Seattle game, he thinks he should be used differently in the offense. If RW indeed said that, I think it is a red flag. I had high hopes for RW when he joined the Cowboys, but I am starting to temper my expectations.

It would help if 9 would throw it in his general area code too.

I am a Roy Williams homer, and while Romo has missed on several throws.....he has also hit Roy right in the hands on some passes that Roy has simply dropped.

Also, I have seen Roy on a few slants not force his way to the inside...instead he allows the smaller DB to take his spot and break up the play.

Roy may be my favorite UT WR of all-time, but he is not getting it done as a WR right now. He needs to get on the same page with his QB. He needs to take advice from a HOF Super Bowl Champion when it is offered. He needs to take advice from the greatest Cowboys WR of all time when offered.

He did score a TD and hopefully that will go a long way to building the Romo/Roy connection.

At least Roy is one helluva downfield blocker. I know he is getting paid some darn good money to catch passes, but at least he is still involved in the game and contributing, even if he is struggling in the pass catching facet.

Yeah, I think that may be his better point. But I think it's a terrible point for Michael himself to make because he's not his coach. If his coaches are teaching him differently, and I suspect they may be, then it only makes sense for him to not take Irvin's advice in that regard.

I think both Romo and RW have to change. I think at least last week, a good chunk of the missed connections were Romo's fault. The week before, you can lay the blame at RW's feet. So it's not just Roy. It's both of them.

Agree 100%.

Only thing is that Romo can have success without Roy, but not the other way around. I expect RW to become further marginalized if Romo continues to have success throwing predominantly to Austin and Witten. For the last two games, Romo's thrown several passes to Austin in tight spots, and my thought has been, "He'd never throw to RW if he were that well covered."

Roy Williams needs some type of motivation which may come from him not dropping catchable balls.

Benching him might do the trick too. It worked wonders for Crayton.

Funny that none of the other receivers have a problem catching Romo's passes.

So we have one of two possibilities here.....

A. Roy is not running the correct route or running it lazy.

B. Romo throws catchable passes to everybody but Roy in an attempt to purposely limit his production.

I wonder which it could be.

Dear Roy, when Irvin talks, you shut up and listen
Caught 750 passes for 11,904 yards and 65 TDs. Hall of famer. Three time Super Bowl Champion. Led the league in receiving in 1991. Won a Pro Bowl MVP in 1991. Set an NFL record with eleven 100 yard receiving games in 1995 including seven in a row. What the hell does Michael Irvin know?

Don't listen to Irvin, Roy.

Listen to Margene Atkins, most underrated receiver in the history of the NFL.
Margene would ask you to catch the ball with your big mouth because (1. It is big and (2. Because it is always open

Speaking of big, after a year with the cowboys it is high time you have a big game Roy.

Right now I would just as soon RW listen to Romo and Ray Sherman. That is enough cooks in the kitchen.

Are you sure you are not confusing Crayton and RW?

RW has come across to me as pretty humble, as he should be.
