Michael Irvin criticizing Roy Williams

It would help if 9 would throw it in his general area code too.

It would help if Roy was in the area code he's supposed to be in too.

Nothing wrong with listening respectfully, but I think one should always listen with a filter. Take what works and toss out the rest.

Exactly. (That also goes for advice from anyone, at any time! :D)

But in this case, does anyone think that Irvin wouldn't do what he's done today...even if Roy had listened respectfully and not suggest that Irvin's way didn't work for him.

Basically go on the radio and pronounce, "I tried to help the brother, but he didn't want to listen. Now you see why he and Romo aren't clicking."

It's a conspiracy. Tony throws to the 940 area code knowing full well that Roy is in the 214 area code. You see, Tony knows that Roy is "not the guy" and is purposefully making Roy miss the call by being in the wrong area code. Or, maybe he, Witten, Austin, and Hurd are drawing up plays to exclude Roy. Pick a conspiracy theory and run with it I say.

The problem is legends aren't always good teachers. They have all this knowledge that they just want to give back, but sometimes it's contrary to what coaches traditionally do.

You see it in this thread (Mike's advice) and in other sports where a great player came back and tried to translate their knowledge and passion to others. It doesn't always work.

Another thing, what if Irvin is suggesting advice that Roy's wide receivers have taught him otherwise over the years.

Nothing wrong with listening respectfully, but I think one should always listen with a filter. Take what works and toss out the rest.

:hammer:

I suppose the play maker has no credibility with the Kool Aid drinkers either.:laugh2:

Who is drinking Kool Aid regarding RW? I think everyone has acknowledged there are issues. The severity of the issues and if they are correctable seem to be the biggest difference among the Cowboy faithful.

I wonder how much Irvin learned from Drew Pearson. I've never heard him mention anything before.

I doubt much since Pearson felt Irvin was disrespectful when he 1st meant Irvin. Mike was brash coming out of Miami to Dallas

And WHY do you (the Romo critics) think that Romo is accurate with pretty much everyone else, but not Roy (and maybe Jupiter Space Cadet Captain Crunch Marty B)?

Is it that those rocket scientists (pun intended) are running perfect routes and Romo just spontaneously loses accuracy with them?

OR

Is it that (unlike RW and Marty B) Austin, Hurd, Witten, Crayton and all the RB's are where they're supposed to be and that's why Romo hits them with no problem?

Do you guys actually watch the games and think before you write some of that crap?

Maybe catching it with his chest (which seems like terrible advice to me) will help Tony throw accurate balls his way or allow them to make the same read on an option route.

Yeah, cause Roy's never let any of the on target passes hit the ground.

Read between the lines. Irvin is questioning RW desire and intensity.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar is a perfect example of that.

Always love a good conspiracy.:D

Maybe Austin and Hurd want to split up RW's salary.

He's not alone. At some point, you have to ask why Romo has only the occasional problem w/not being on the same page as the other WRs, yet with RW, it's closer to 40 to 50% of attempts?

Did you reply to the wrong post?

Irvin also talked bout the advice he gave to all the Cowboys WRs about anticipating the snap count. You see the evidence in how Miles explodes off the ball and RW is watching it.

I think Irvin felt the other WRs listened to him and took to heart what he said...RW didn’t. BTW, the TD catch...Roy Williams caught with his body.

Remember that catch owens made against GB and Micheal against Sf where both got hit hard after the catch?

They both caught those with their body and let the ball come to them. What irvin is trying to say is if the ball is on target let it come to you so you can take the impact and not caugh the ball.

I wouldnt hate of Irvin He knows what He's talking about...And if you question irvin on his style of catching then go watch some tape, He never had alligator arms.

Irvin didn't always catch the ball with his body, just when he was anticipating a hit, to protect the ball.

It goes counter to how catching is usully taught, but you can't argue with the results.

Michael also once said this season that Austin hates contact and can be easily handled at the LOS, which is complete BS.
