Not to excuse him, but I think parenting (or a lack thereof) has left this young man ill equipped to handle life's highs and lows.

How about this?
He's a young adult. Knows right from wrong.

People blame parents too much. How about the parents parents when they were kids? The parents don't blame the parents. I don't hear it anyway,

Society has created this cookie sheet of excuses.... Bi polar when they are not, poor parenting, the teachers fault, the employers fault, being offended by everything.... etc.

Own it... The IT'S yours!

I have held out on his band wagon up until this latest incident. Hitting a woman is a big no-no for me. That is why I never wanted a certain DE here. I am officially off the JF bandwagon. I think he could be a good QB in this league if he matures but he just crossed a line in the sand I cant forgive.

Ummm. Okay. Calm down. It's just an observation. Didn't say it cleared or freed him from anything. He has to be held responsible and accountable for his actions. But parenting or lack of parenting, no rules setting, no boundaries, entitlement, etc... regardless of economic circumstances, can set back a young person. I see that with him and I hope he, as a fellow human being, gets the help he needs to turn his life around. Doesn't mean anyone is excusing his behavior. It just means he, like a lot of young and old people, have to grow up. He just has to do it in the public eye under a lot of scrutiny.

I'm calm. :) wasn't directly at you. Just calling it as I'm seeing it... Lately.

It is better to stay silent & let people believe you're a fool, than to open up your mouth & remove all doubt. Irvin, you don't have the slightest idea of what Manziel has put his coaches, teammates, family, & fans of the Browns through. Until you do, just shut up! He's been given more chances than a one-eyed man at a shooting gallery, but has still managed to lie, cheat, & do whatever he can to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. The man is a narcissistic 12 year-old sociopath who doesn't care about anyone but himself. The Browns WILL release the woman beating, alcoholic, chronic liar in early March, & I pray that Stephen has enough control of this team by then to keep his father from signing Manziel. We already have more than enough characters. We need more character.

Mike instead of wasting your life and time with a loser like Manziel, why don't you teach our brutal receiving core how to catch and play with intensity.

Really..?

The guy was the heart and soul of 3 World Championships for us and when he left..they ended.

I really like most of what you post, brother,

But here..you are dead wrong.

Irvin knows the game and the franchise beyond anything we as fans will ever know.

I agree with him.

In fact..we are probably the best team to take him and wait and see what happens.

And if in a year or two he ends up winning with us..

it will all be viewed as another Staubach move where we took a chance on another Heisman Winner and made it work.

I see good things here..no downside.

If it works out, it's exactly what the NFL wants to see..

players improving and contributing after overcoming their issues.

Again..he hasn't killed anybody..his girlfriend was unfortunate but the police did nothing so that stuff happens.

I've been there with ex's..some times they say and do stuff to try to damage you but it get's resolved.

It passes like a thunderstorm.

Whatever.

I say bring him in..

we need him at the position and he can heal.

Get him Jerrah.
You are like a poet.
Naw, Irvin is a garden-variety thug off the field. Don't let him cut your hair and don't let him talk you into attending that motel party with the hostesses. on the other hand, a hell of a WR!
