When I was his age, I was poor, newly married, living with her folks with a baby, paying off college loans and working for peanuts just to buy formula.

Don't give me this crap about how he's young and just needs to figure it out. My five year old knows right from wrong whereas JF can't seem to understand the concept.

I have no sympathy for someone who has the world at his fingertips and repeatedly fumbles it away.

Irvin will try to connect him with God to turn him around. I have a feeling that doesn't work with guys like JM

Exactly what I was thinking. I have an uncle who tries to solve people's problems by pulling out the Bible and helping them "find God" - always the least helpful thing for someone struggling. Manziel needs more rehab, the rest is up to him after that.

On Biblical reference, not true...it depends on how well truths are related to today's experiences. Lack of functional ethics has always been a problem through time. But personal responsibility and simply, a conscience is not an antiquated experience or goal. Those too frequently are situational and privilege linked today.

If one only wants the experience of his own senses, good luck on how long that show runs. But sharing decisional crap is even worse.

Jesus, dude. Open your eyes.

The problem isn't that JFF wants to party; it's that he wants to party more than he wants to play football.

At 23, there is a good chance he grows out of it. Irvin grew out of his stupidity.

Lol, Irvin "working with" a drunk cokehead? I don't see how that could possibly fail

I really don't think you're keeping it in a realistic context. Brady, Manning, Manning, Newton. These guys are the exceptions, and not the rule. And even if they weren't, considering a 22 year old a 'turd' because he can't handle the spotlight or because he has a dependency issue is exactly what I'm talking about.

The exceptions? There are more NFL players at age 22 who don't act like Manziel than there are that do. For you to act like this is almost normal behavior for a 22 year old NFL player and guys like Manning and Brady are the exception is somewhat bizarre.

Yep..I actually still wonder about Irvin. Not making accusations but he seems different on the later segments on NFL network than he does in the morning

Obviously, I'm referring to their success as being exceptional and not their behavior when they were 22.

There are lots of reasons why players fail. Johnny's route doesn't have to be a common one for people to still have a little sympathy.

Different situation. Irvin loved to party going back to his days at The U, but there was never any question regarding his work habits or that football was his top priority. You simply can't say that about Manziel.

Pass.

It's about talent on the field. If Manziel really showed he was a star or even a decent player I would say go get him. But he's been below average at best in his NFL career. 57% comp %, 7 TDs and 7 INTs.

Michael Irvin: The most unqualified American to offer advice on saving anybody. Irvin is a carnival barker, a mental midget and, on his very best day, an almost average football analyst.
th

Having said that, he was a heck of a WR, an icon of Cowboys lore.

AND WHEN DID THE COWBOYS BECOME A REHAB UNIT??????????????????????

Good day, blokes! I'm off to shoot darts at the Cat & the Fiddle and then have pot roast and ale at Ben's Pub and Bookstore.
Cheers!

Really..?

The guy was the heart and soul of 3 World Championships for us and when he left..they ended.

I really like most of what you post, brother,

But here..you are dead wrong.

Irvin knows the game and the franchise beyond anything we as fans will ever know.

I agree with him.

In fact..we are probably the best team to take him and wait and see what happens.

And if in a year or two he ends up winning with us..

it will all be viewed as another Staubach move where we took a chance on another Heisman Winner and made it work.

I see good things here..no downside.

If it works out, it's exactly what the NFL wants to see..

players improving and contributing after overcoming their issues.

Again..he hasn't killed anybody..his girlfriend was unfortunate but the police did nothing so that stuff happens.

I've been there with ex's..some times they say and do stuff to try to damage you but it get's resolved.

It passes like a thunderstorm.

Whatever.

I say bring him in..

we need him at the position and he can heal.

Get him Jerrah.

It would be good for both of them. They can share what drug dealers has the best quality product at the best prices. It is a win-win situation for both guys. Irvin will have Manziel wearing a fur coat in no time.

Cry me a river. He's 22. He's not 7. If he doesn't know how to act at age 22, especially when he's been in trouble and had issues dating back to his time in college, then I really struggle to feel sorry for him. Somehow, someway guys like Tom Brady and Peyton and Eli Manning and Cam Newton and other QBs somehow were able to act like a mature adult at age 22 facing similar pressures as Manziel.

He's a turd, plain and simple.

Not to excuse him, but I think parenting (or a lack thereof) has left this young man ill equipped to handle life's highs and lows.
