I really, really, really wanted Jerrah to trade for Houshmandzadeh.

I would have rather traded away some picks and maybe a player to slide up and get Crabtree. Dude is going to be a beast in this league, for a long time. He's one of those can't miss WRs like Calvin Johnson.

The the WRs can't run routes, or that Babe Laughingstock can't recognize them?

I think Roy is just dumb. Listening to him talk is kinda painful. Sorta sounds like LT, that slow dumb voice.

With that said, yeah I don't think he is running good routes.
Someone from South Carolina talking smack about slow dumb voices? :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao:

Troy aikman referred to him repeatedly as the worst route runner he has ever seen and Laufenberg has commented now two weeks in a row, that watching roy williams and T.O. run routes its no wonder the offense is struggling. He said he couldnt figure out which route either was running and they keep stopping on top of it.

That is why I crack up when I see joe the blogger making these long winded posts about how garrett and romo suck.
Not seeing how going pass-heavy in an offense whose WR's run sloppy routes lets Garrett off the hook.

It doesnt.

But I have a feeling, the staff knows that we dont run block very well and everyone beats us to the edges, so our offense has to go pass first and get those ends up the field and hold the linebackers for a second.

Then run on the interior.

I re-watched the Ravens game and you can't see anything from the television broadcast that would indicate RW11 runs poor routes. But obviously you see a lot more live at the game, so it's hard for any of us to verify this or not.

Also, after re-watching the game, I cannot emphasize enough how poorly the O-line played. And it's not just a single player. If Procter isn't screwing up, Davis is. If Davis isn't screwing up Gurode is, etc.

Absolutely. There was a free man every snap. People jump on romo, but how is he supposed read the defense, then dodge a player, then re read the defense and make an accurate throw.

During commercial breaks, romo was going off on the line. Flozell adams had to be seperated last week on that safety after gurode snapped the ball too soon.

it just seems there is no discipline or focus.

Every game. We can barely ever create holes for the running game.

Without kosier pulling outside we almost never can get outside. We have completely stopped running that toss play without kosier and it seems there is a free guy on the edge, even when the fronts are only 7 men.

Just like romo, alot of times are backs have had to make someone miss almost instantly.

I expected the opposite from a Houck line. Just bizarre.

What we have created, though, is yards.

Barber, Choice, and Jones have averaged 4.5 ypc over the first half of games.

Yes there have been a bunch of big runs. We do not lineup and consistently run the football effectively however.

The green bay, cincy, cleveland games we had a couple of big bursts.

But we do not lineup and run the ball that well and I think the staff knows they have to throw first, especially in games where they know they have to move the chains and score points.

This group never really has. We get a few big runs that offset the stats every week, which is fine but I think they know they wont just lineup early in games and shove it down peoples throats, and it might have something to do with why we dont score any points in the first quarter.

That title belongs to you, by a long shot.

3 4 3 1 2 2 1
6 2 4 7 2 2 0 29

Those are Choice's first quarter rushing gains over the last three games. That's about as typical a distribution as you could expect for that number of carries--except maybe for the fact that there were no tackles for loss.

There's no lack of consistency there, unless you want to say that every team's running game lacks consistency.

We should, for once, try a gadget play this week. Reid has hurt our feelings with them so much in the past, we owe him big time. We should come out early and run a double reverse pass, let Crayton throw it. Or maybe just a flea flicker, something. We've got to find a way to get some points on the board early.

Just to add about the consistency of our running game...

We average 4.3 yards per rush, good for 9th in the NFL.

There are twelve teams that average between 4.1 and 4.5, and of those twelve, five have more big runs (20+ yards) than we do, five have fewer, and one has the same number.

So our 4.3 per rush isn't skewed by an unusual number of big runs.

The theory that we need to pass first because we can't run consistently doesn't hold water.

Very valid point. I just think Garrett gives up on the run to easily.

I said it during the first half of the ravens game, those 1 and 2 yard gains will add up and tire a defense out.

What happened in the 4th quarter? Yeah, I don't even want to type it out.
