CALLS I'D MAKE THIS WEEK IF...

IF I WORKED FOR THE SAINTS...
I would call the Cowboys and try to twist their arm to see if they'd trade 2008 fourth-round pick Tashard Choice. He's 215 pounds and has the skills for the Saints' offense and the power for short yardage. I might even dangle first-round pick Robert Meachem in front of them to see what they think. Cowboys back-up offensive tackle Doug Free would be another target of mine.

Meacham has been a bust so far in a pass happy offense. One of my biggest pet peeves is guys that cant stay healthy, thats Meacham. So no. As for Free I need to see him do something on the field before I make any judgements but the fact he was inactive all but a couple games is ominous. Unfortunately Flozell is on his last legs IMO so Free needs to stay. Also with MBIII running style Choice needs to stay. By the way Choice had a great game against the Superbowl champs on the road. Enough said.

Intetresting about Free, but why would we even think about letting go of him if he can play though.

Not a chance! It's not even worth pondering. Choice is our future back. Gotta keep him.

Lombardi always seems to say nice things about the "boys and JJ. He liked our draft too. I wonder if he is secretly trying to trick JJ into hiring him.

Love Choice...love Meacham too. But you are right...at least so far he's missed a lot of time to injury. Everytime I do see him play he looks like a man amoung boys though. If Felix gets hurt again fairly this year, we will be hearing the samr thing about him.
I think we need Tashard.

I dont know, he sounds like a Saints fan in proposing those trades,

No way in hell will I let Choice go. The three headed monster is more prevelent in the NFL today and the Boys need to keep theirs intact. As for me, I say no trade of any kind other than Carpenter and maybe Ellis. Let's take what we have, groom them, and go for it. As we have learned from before. Alot of FA pick ups have not been favorable for us in the past few years.

I wouldn't say he "liked" our draft, but yes, he seems to be kind to the 'Boys sometimes. At least it didn't hate our draft. I did agree with assessment that we had a lot of bad luck, so we rallied in the late rounds to get some servicable players. Now his counterpart on NFLNW gave us the worst draft grade....no big deal.

Dangle Meachem?? lol is that suppose to be tempting or something? The deal would have to knock our socks off to even consider trading Choice. I really hope they don't think that it's a luxury to have 3 very good RB's and then just give Choice away for peanuts.

If I worked for cbs sports I would write articles that are at least plausible

I'd say no on both counts.

I'd have to think there's something seriously wrong with Meachum if he can't succeed in that offense.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut.

McQuistan was part of the wedge and the swing tackle.... they've had Free working soley at LT that is probably the main reason he was inactive.

Like an earlier poster said I would Consider Carp or Ellis plus a low draft pick for Meachem. better yet, how about Carp plus Stanback or Hurd for him.

He was essentially a rookie last year coming back after missing an entire season due to a knee injury. He was not fully recovered and had a relapse.
When he did play, he looked like a player...big time. But he hasn't shown near enough (yet) to warrant a trade for TC.

Choice for Meachem hahaha N-O NO! Good grief, Jerry makes one stupid trade in 2008 and now people think Jerry's TOTALLY nuts.

Granted it was only a few games, but I think Choice showed he can be a multiple-down back and starter if needed. The guy is a gem, no way we give him up for anything short of...well nobody.
