Michael Wilbon on 980 ESPN - Saints are a fraud

Go figure.

In their world of hyperbole, "Fraud" is a powerful word these TV/radio sports guys like to use. It's one extreme or the other. Teams are either great or they are a fraud. Super or pathetic. There's nothing in between.

And guys like Wilbon spew this crapola by yelling at the top of their lungs. For added emphasis.

PTI is unwatchable. All I see are two sellout newspaper columnists with faces made for radio, yelling nonsense at each other.
:lmao: PTI was good when it first aired, but now Wilbonehead and Kornball have become full of themselves. It isn't the same show anymore.

Saints were missing #1 CB #3 CB #1 DT #1 TE #1 RB for that game. You can also throwin #1 OT, but he is on injured reserve. We get back all the above for the playoffs. Then we will see what's what.

Excuses. The Cowboys were missing some starters too and the guy who won the game for us was carried off on a stretcher last week. Everybody's banged up this time of year. Do injuries make a difference? Sure they do. But that doesn't diminish what the Cowboys accomplished Saturday night. We came into your loud house and took it to you. For the first quarter, we did what the hell we wanted and stayed in control after that. We already know what's what.

I can see if you're 7-6 or even 8-5 the case being made that you're a pretender.

But 13-0???? Very few teams could go 13-0, even if every team on their schedule had a losing record.

Dallas beat a good team. They deserve credit.

Injuries are a part of the game. NO has them, just as Dallas does, and just as both teams had last year.

Injuries were not an excuse for Dallas last season (although legions of fans here tried to pin the dismal '08 finish on them), and they aren't an excuse for the Saints Saturday night, either. If you're this late in the season and still have your QB out there, count your blessings.

...and yet, the Saints raved about the fact that they can plug in guys off the street and keep on clicking because of the "system" they have in place. At least that comment worked against the Patriots.

We're also missing a key o-lineman, had injuries to our RBs this year, injuries to our safety, not to mention Ware, who is playing with a broken wrist, broken foot, and strained neck after being carted off the field 6 days before this game.

Let the excuses fly. I don't think any of the injured Saints players would have made a difference Saturday night. They were not going to win the game.

Of course.

Did you hear the crappy Christmas song he made about us and debuted it on Friday?

He has no choice to make excuses every time the Cowboys win because it completely blows away his agenda.
No I missed it and the from the sounds like I am glad I did because it would have made me mad.

Both the Saints and the Vikings have chinks in the armor and can be had in the playoffs....good news for us!

The Cowboys just beatup on a great team. Is that so hard for Cowboy detractors to understand?

The Saints area proven team. We just steamrolled them when everybody else could not!

Yes, Dallas did beat a great team. But, I wouldn't call a seven point win over a team that still had a chance to tie it up on the final drive "beating up" or "steamrolling".

Not to downplay the significance of the 7 point difference at the end, but it would have been 10 points if we had a FG kicker that was worth a darn.

The final drive by the Saints would have been meaningless.

You know what they say about "ifs" and "buts". The fact was that the Cowboys played a near perfect game and the Saints played a mistake laden game and still had a chance to tie it up at the end.

I agree. I was not surprised the Saints made a strong charge at the end it is hard to keep a quality offense down for 4 qrts sooner or later they will make a run. Thankfully the Cowboys defense stayed focus and forced the turnover to end the game. I was also not surprised by Dallas ability to move the ball on the Saints defense and put up the points.

You were steamrolled the first 3 quarters, behind 24-3 starting the 4th.

You guys put back on our heels somewhat in the 4th, but we made the plays we had to in the end, our shank FG kicker notwithstanding.

But for the majority of the game, you were pretty badly outplayed. The final score was not indicative of most of the play, IMO.

Near perfect?

Missed FG?

Dropped 3rd down conversion that led to your one TD.

Mistake laden where two turnovers were FORCED by sacks.

You had one pick that was mistake laden, the sacks and fumbles are a credit to the D, not "mistakes". Any time you have hard sacks like the 4 we had last night, your QB is going to lose the ball, it was amazing that Brees held on to the ball on 2 of those. Ware is very good at stripping the ball on sacks.

And to add:

Hands to the face that gave you another set of downs when we had you off the field

Personal foul penalty that made our struggling FG kicker have to kick a 42 yarder instead of 27 yards

A few dropped passess....

Just don't understand why so many people care what sports media says about the Cowboys or Cowboys opponents. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I couldn't care less.

Yes, we know all about such a scenario.

Yes, near perfect. That missed field goal was why I said "near". I have seen every Cowboys game this year and that was clearly the best complete game by Dallas this season.

And yes, mistake laden. Fumbles, whether forced or not, are still mistakes. Dropped passes are also mistakes.

You mean like Jenkins dropped int or Austin and Wittens drops?

I'm not sure what the problem is? I am saying that the Cowboys played a great game, the best I have seen them play all year. I have also said that the Saints played one of their most mistake laden games of the year. I have seen every game and the blocking was sub par and their were dropped passes which are almost never seen by the receiving corps. I am not sure what you are trying to argue?
