This former Texas star will be one of many NFL Draft prospects at Valley Ranch early next week.
According to multiple published reports and now confirmed by TheRanchReport.com, former Texas safety Michael Huff will visit with the Dallas Cowboys Monday, April 17.
The former Longhorn standout is a two-time All-Conference selection who won the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back in 2005. He finished his senior season second on the team in tackles with 109. He also recorded 14 passes broken up and an interception.
Huff, much like Tennessee's Jason Allen and Virginia Tech's Jimmy Williams, is another defensive back prospect that could be tried at multiple positions in the NFL, including cornerback and free safety.
For the Cowboys, the team needs immediate help at free safety. Last year's starter, restricted free agent Keith Davis, has signed an offer sheet with the New Orleans Saints and may not be back with the team in 2006.
In addition, Dallas also wants a free safety that is better suited in coverage situations to compliment the play of strong safety Roy Williams, who likes to make plays at the line of scrimmage.
While many experts consider Huff to go early in the first round, the Cowboys will still bring him in for a visit to Valley Ranch Monday.
Scout.com currently ranks Huff as the No. 1 safety prospect eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.
Huff is one of at least four safety prospects the Cowboys have shown significant interest in this off-season. For the complete list of all draft-
eligible players that TheRanchReport.com has documented interest in by the Cowboys, please visit TheRanchReport.com Premium Message Board.
