I love the idea of drafting Huff, but the price too move up to draft him is too much. Stay put or trade down.

We should trade down and draft an OLB to replace Singleton IMO.

Huff is a very talented player, but Cedric Griffin could wind up being the better DB for all we know.

I don't see any way that this will happen. However, IF it somehow did happen and we ended up with Huff the Cowboys would undoubtedly have the best starting secondary in the league. We would have a hell of a lot of money tied up in it but no one would be able to match us position for position across the secondary.

Huff's a pretty safe pick though...he appears to have all the skills to be a bigtime CB, but at worst you know your rae drafting a guy who could be a dynamite FS...if he hits as a CB our secondary would be almost invincible

I'm not saying I'd move up to get him, but I could see the logic in it

Seeing plenty of Texas games I know he's going to be quite the stud in the NFL and i wouldn't be opposed for us trading up. I just hope if we do we don't overpay to trade up cause we still have other needs we have to fill

Rather than making any kind of deal where we give up any of our day 1 picks. If we are going to go safety in round 1 I would much rather see us trade down a few spots, pick up a couple more day 1 picks or possible 1st rounder next year and grab Donte Whitner.

Huff is a heck of a player, but I just don't see it. I think Dallas is doing their homework just in case.

I've read several reports where teams are starting to think Huff can play CB. Drafting Huff at around #9 to play FS seems a bit like a reach, but if we could get him w/ the #9 pick to play CB and move Henry to FS then perhaps we have something interesting in that. The question is what do you give up to move up to around #9 to get Huff? Obviously it wil cost us the #18 pick and either a 2nd round pick or perhaps a player. Maybe now that we re-signed Keith Davis we can trow him in with a late round pick so that we can hold on to our 2nd round pick but still move up? That way we can still address OL in the second round.

That's just it. I think the cost is prohabitive. If Huff falls just a couple of spots (and that's always possible), then Dallas might be more inclined to do something.

Somebody mentioned trade bait already on the team. Then someone else mentioned Greg Ellis. Just throwing it out there but Dallas has paid a lot of attention to Rodrique Wright too.

What if we package Ellis, our 1st and if the trade calls for it some middle pick next year and take Huff in the 1st and Wright in the 2nd to replace Ellis? Just throwing it out there.

(FYI: I'm not a Horn homer, I actually really dislike them, but the plan seems logical)

This trade would make sense to me. And it might be something Detroit might go for. From what I've read, they are looking to upgrade at DE and Ellis would certainly be that. Providing that Huff is still on the board at #9, it might be in their plans.

This could explain the Cowboys' surprising interest in Rodrique Wright. Could they envision him as Ellis' replacement?

Drafting Wright in Round 3 would give the Cowboys a good, young, talented DE rotation with Spears, Canty, Ratliff and Wright.

And drafting Huff in Round 1 would give the Cowboys an amazing overall secondary - arguably the league's strongest unit.

What if: The saints trade down to say 8 or 9 ,, then we could package Romo, #18 and maybe a 3rd next year to move up to 8 or 9,, take huff, The saints would get their back up QB, still be high enough to draft BPA between OT or WR plus several more picks in day 1 to build a team. Not likely but you never know.

don't see them moving up. we got too much $ already in the secondary.

My sentiments exactly....JJ is trying to establish his normal smoke screen before the draft....by saying any and everything to get other teams off the players he is really looking at.

i'm also in that 1 out of 10 who think bush will be a bust....at rb. i think he'd make a solid wr. his body can't handle the pain and punishment a rb takes running up the middle and he won't be able to jump around like he did in college.

as for huff...great talent. he will get a shot at cb first wherever he goes. if he doesn't pan out at cb then he will move to fs. cb is the premium position, not fs. whoever drafts him will try him there first.

do you not understand that NFL defenses are 100X faster than college defenses. bush will not be able to do what he does best in the nfl, and taht is run outside. once a decade talent is barry sanders, the quickest and most elusive back to play the game. but see barry could still somewhat go through guys and he is 100X quicker and more elusive than bush is. bush is an outside runner, who scans for sidelines nad passes up lanes. he is going to dissapoint many in his career.

yeah I understand it...apparently you havent watched much of the guy other than espn highlights or something (which by the way are amazing all by themselves)

and saying Sanders was 100x more quick and elusive than Bush is just comical

everyone is entitled to their opinion...we can revisit this in a yr or two and see who was right

Hey guys,

I was just watching NFL Network and Adam S. (forget his last name) reported that Michael Huff is coming to visit the Cowboys on Monday, and that the Cowboys could trade up to try to grab him.

As a Commanders fan this isn't very pleasant to hear, as Huff is obviously an incredible Safety, but I didn't see anything about it on the site so I decided to share.

I really don't see what everyone sees in Michael Huff, that if he was drafted by Dallas, would make our defense that much better. I just don't see it... Somebody enlighten me pleeeeease!!!

BUT, IF FOR SOME REASON, he was drafted by Dallas, I'm not going to scream foul... He's a player no doubt, yes he is... BUT, see my first paragraph above.

What is truly amazing is that some people are arguing with you and don't believe Bush is going to be a good player. Dallas could offer Houston its entire draft and Houston would still laugh at us.

I hope he plays smarter than he sounds. I heard him this morning on with Collin Cowherd on ESPNradio and Collin asked him who was the best all time CB or coverman (something like that) and he said........charles woodson  Needless to say the callers slaughtered him on that in the next segement.

How could he not mention Deion Sanders?

It is just another smoke screen and due diligents on the Dallas side. We are not one player away from a Super Bowl and in order to get Huff we would have to move to the Buffalo spot because the Lions will take Huff. The cost is to great.

Now if for some reason Huff should fall to say 15 or 16 then I could see a move up giving up a third or maybe just a fourth and fifth next year. Anything else would hurt in dealing with other needs.

Going up to number 8 would kill this draft and next year. I would look for a trade down unless Huff should fall to 18. If we are really interested in any Texas players my bet would be on Jonathan Scott and Rod Wright who you could get both in the third round.

Scott does test out well but he seemed to make AJ Hawk disappear in the Ohio State game and don't remember anyone getting to Vince Young in the championship game against USC. He just is a player.

Wright I could see being a 3-4 DE easily and he is probably more suited to that spot.

Safe bet would be to see us make a couple of trades draft day and pick up an OLB in the first, FS in the second , a DE and OT/OG in the third, DT in the fourth, WR in the fifth and OG in the sixth, KR in the seventh. That would be a good draft.
