Michigan Interested in Jason Garrett

if this team chokes away a playoff spot the next two games then Michigan can have him.

They're also wanting Sean Payton and John Harbaugh. I'm a big Texas A&M fan and the rumor is we'd consider hiring Bill Belichick as a defensive coordinator...

Payton and Marinelli would be ok with me although I'm not anxious to change HCs.

JG is only 'hot' right now because of his record this year. No other reason. He has never shown anything to think he is more than an average HC. Frankly never impressed me as a OC either.

Harbaugh is not going to Michigan. To start with that so called $50 million deal was nowhere near that - more like $6 million a year at most ratther then $8 million a year. Then he is still under contract this year to SF and they would need to let him go; they want something for him so they will trade him to the Raiders for whatever they can get.

I'd say instead that he was only 'not hot' in previous seasons because of the team's record. And I'd agree that the fact that that's changed is because the team's record has changed.

The reality is, there's a lot more to coaching than can be told by the record for the season. And a lot more than what goes into calling plays on game day. The real work of coaching goes on the rest of the year when teams are built and players developed and staffs are assembled and messages are presented and the organization if focussed. These are the things Jason's always been good at. It's just taken a long time for that to be evident because we've been slow about upgrading the talent on the field because we've been hampered in terms of the cap and had no competitive advantage in terms of draft picks and had an aging roster that had somehow missed it's last window in ~2007. A window that was made possible by the work of another good coach who also didn't have the record to support the great work he did in Dallas.

Jerry, stay away from the alcohol! Now is not the time for stupid "500 coaches could coach this team and make the playoffs" trash!!! OK??

coach Harbaugh just might go to Michigan all of his family is on board and 8 million a year might be to much to pass on

Can't say I blame him. Not sure he would get back to the NFL as a HC soon again but that would depend on his record at Michigan. He can make them a force again. Too cold for me these days.

Garrett currently has the biggest coaching gig in all of American sports. Unless the money is insane, I don't know who in his position would take it.

Garrett has the best job in football - head coach of the NFL's crown jewel franchise. Any other job is a step down. He's going to get a huge contract and he's earned it.

It is posts like these that prevent people from taking you seriously anymore

Give Garrett 2 inexperienced OC and DC and watch the cowboys go back to 8-8

Garrett has done nothing other than football 101, build an OL (some of which was happenstance) and rely on the running game. He also lucked into having a very very good QB to begin with .
Garrett is not a good/great coach, his only redeeming feature has been keeping the joneses from completely messing it up

If Garrett gets another HC job anywhere else we will see the beginning of another 10 year "process" that will culminate in the severe curbing of his powers and the hiring of very experienced OC and DC
Better than every post you make preventing the same thing.

crazy to think just a year ago Garrett was approaching noosedom while Harbaugh was riding high headed to the nfc championship game and here we are a year later….fortunes have turned.
PS. I will admit I'm still a bit skeptical of Garrett, honestly I think Linehan and Marinelli saved him this year but clearly there is good juju in the coaching staff, no way Jerry messes with it unless one of the big three leaves of their own volition

Well posts like this used to get a dozen likes. Now it is just down to 3. Good to find out who is a fan of themselves and being right over the team.
