Mickey: make no bones about run intentions

Running backs don't matter behind average olines when the playiffs come. That's why dallas shut his run game down in Seattle's playoff game. Switch him and kellen Moore and schotty would have a ring now too....ot atleast have had a deep playoff run.
The top backs in this draft do matter.
How did Jeanty look behind an average oline in the college playoffs against Penn State? While having a top running back is always preferred, his point is that even they cannot do it single-handedly against above-average run defenses. And it is absolutely a valid point if our oline's blocking is average at best.

And that's exactly what will happen. In today's game you need to throw the ball to be able to run it.
Some sort of a balance anyway. Being able to effectively run the ball goes well beyond saying you want to do it.

Everyone wants to run the ball. It’s like saying “we want to prevent the opponent from scoring.” Got it.

Mickey puts the kabosh on anything that we do as a team when he speaks lol. Let's hope this one time everything goes well and we find a running attack with balance.

Mickey gets too much flack. He's a good dude and writer.
I agree to disagree. I think he’s a pompous jerk and he has completely blown up at people when they’ve challenged anything he said. But we all don’t think alike

That's why they will draft a top back and they very well could draft 2 backs.
With all due respect that's an assinine way to approach it.

Don't draft high one of the cheapest positions in the NFL to buy in FA.....draft in the trenches and WR and buy the rest on offense.

Good article from Mickey. Straight forward about the run game and plans.
And reasons why Schotty selected the coaches he did to help the run game
No company fluff stuff this time.

"Because as former Cowboys quarterbacks, offensive coordinator and head coach Jason Garrett reminded me a few weeks ago while giving his thoughts on the career of Zack Martin, running the football "is certainly how (Brian's) dad built teams for years. They used to call him Marty Ball. It was almost to a fault. They were going to run the ball, play defense, special teams, and the issue was they would have good teams. They'd get to the playoffs, and they couldn't go to that next step because maybe they weren't balanced enough the other way. But he won a lot of games playing that way."
Mickey Mickey, Jerrys private brownnoser.

Still alive and kickin' wasting precious disc storage.

Cowboys would need to trade down in the 1st round (possibly twice) to garner enough Day 2 draft picks to afford to draft 2 RBs. With the current number of draft picks, they don't have enough to do this drafting of 2 RBs.
This class is deep enough that we could take one in the fifth, provided the other RB were a day 1 or 2 pick.

Sorry jazz. With all the smoke and mirrors and promises....I will believe it when I see it.

If this years iteration is the first one not lying or half efforts (at best)...then it's the first one in years.

so coaching really doesnt matter, does it?

But the Cowboys need more picks. Yes, this draft is deep in RBs, but only a handful (5 - 7) are truly worth taking, and most all of them will likely be gone by the 5th round.

well, didn't we think acquiring a top RB was the plan in last year's draft ?

Because the enormous pressure is on more than ever, ..i'm " almost" assured we will drafting a RB within the first 2 rounds....

not 3rd rd and we don't have a 4th and that would be silly to be waiting that far out for what would be a backup caliber if it's 4th round.

We're definitely going for a starting rookie RB,.. not a backup. Williams and Sanders are not starting material types, imo.
Both are in the decline in that kind of former role.
