If you are implying that this "rumor" was generated by the Cowboys to gain negotiation leverage, then the only way it would be effective is if there is something in the Dez's past that would be detrimental to Dez's future career in order to get Dez to sign a reduced contract based on a rumor.
I have no idea where you get that idea. Stephen Jones has insisted that despite rumors the Cowboys know all about this video that they do not. One lie of the claims already has been exposed. How many more?

Really? The existence of such a video as it has been described wouldn't give you any hesitation at all?

Also, given the Rice comparison I'm not sure it's fair to say that the team Dez plays for has anything to do with the attention it has received, nor the crap storm that will follow if the rumblings are true.

Nope. Everyone hates us.

Nope. Everyone hates us.
Taking poetic license with Gordon Gecko's line.

Hate, for lack of a better word, is good. Hate is right. Hate works. Hate clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Hate, in all of its forms; of life, of money, of love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind and hate, you mark my words, will not only save the Dallas Cowboys, but that other lightning rod of controversy called the U.S.A

...If the video does appear than it would mean that Ed Werder is not the slimy scum of the Earth wouldn't it?

You think this mystery vid somehow gives legs to Werdre's recent unsourced Dez-Franchise tag-holdout story? How so?

And, no. I'd still expect Werder to support his own work better than he does and at a level befitting the access he's got.

Worse than Ray Rice video doesn't have to mean violence. We all know how immature he was until recently. Maybe it's the typical sex tape, and maybe he's with more than one girl.

See, I can be a journalist too.

You're not a journalist until you say 'sources told you that' with a straight face.

Personal note: Knowing that legitimate media is already digging into this and the stoyr hasnt went away by now is a scary thing if youre a Cowboys fan. This is already front page on Yahoo. Thats not something Dez would want. But you have to say this guy chose to live his lifestyle this is the effect. True or not stuff like this is going to pop up because he chose to live a certain way.

COWBOYS DEZ: THE 'WHAT IFS' OF VIDEO TROUBLE

Mike FisherCowboysHQ.com
Dez Bryant "incriminating video’’ story and it begs for me to be clear on it:

Until I see it, I do not know that it exists. But I do know legitimate media outlets are digging. And I do know, one way or another, it's a Dallas Cowboys problem.

I have already detailed the lack of logic regarding some of the branches on this Dez Video tree. But if there is any truth to the colorful claims that this years-old video paints a picture of Bryant that is “five times worse than Ray Rice,’’ there will be trepidation not only regarding his “Cowboy For Life’’ contract negotiations, but concerns for his availability to the Cowboys in 2015 and concerns for what law-enforcement officials might wish to do about it.

I have on many occasions referred to this as a “Unicorn Video,’’ not because it necessarily doesn’t exist, but simply because it a) seems surreal and b) is unseen by me.

Suppose, just for argument’s sake, that the “Unicorn’’ is located. Now what do you do with the notion of a seven-year, $100-million commitment? Now what do you with the $12.8-million commitment that goes with the tag?

“Right now, as to our basic approach to all of the contracts that we’re considering negotiating, off-the-field issues are not a consideration in any situation with any player,’’ Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the other day.

And if the “unsubstantiated rumor’’ only appears on “SportsCenter’’? Jones can be right.

But if the “Unicorn Video’’ ever appears on “SportsCenter’’? Jones will be wrong.

What if the lack of logic is overcome by a seedy fact? What if legitimate outlets’ searches for the video produce something illicit? Does Dallas give Bryant a seven-year deal? A one-year deal? No deal at all, because depending on the level of illicitness, he might face a penalty from the NFL like the penalty given Rice and Adrian Peterson before him?

And what if law enforcement wants in on this? Cowboys Nation shudders at the thought … but if the Unicorn Video exists, it would be the scene played out before our eyes that will cause us to shudder.

Wait.. so your're telling me that Unicorns aren't real?....

Lets just see the darn video already. Why the big build up?! Someone mentioned BigFoot. This reminds me of some of the build up to supposed HUGE new evidence proving his existence

It is reminiscent of Geraldo Rivera opening up Al Capone's vault

Oops I meant Mike Florio. I get the scumbags confused at times.

What if? I'll tell you what if. 5 minutes after it comes out, announce that Dez is signed to that 7 year deal. The "story" dies.

There are only 3 reasons why this is even a story at all. Those reasons are...

1. The

2. Dallas

3. Cowboys

They could do a lot to kill this story if the Cowboys would go ahead and make the tag official and if Dez would then come out and say that he has no problem playing under the tag.

Yes. I do, too, actually. I'm withholding judgement on the Florio/Twitterverse thing until the story comes out or fails to come out entirely. It sounds like there's probably something there and we just don't know what it is or how damning/reliable the story actually is. I have my suspicions, but there's not enough to go on just yet.

My sources who would only speak with animosity...uh, I mean anonymously, tell me they have seen the video but were not allowed to view it. However they have sources who also would only speak anonymously, claim that it is a video of Dez twerking in womens underwear, which in most circles, could be considered far worse than the contents of the Ray Rice video! :omg:

Geez, really people. Stop and think for a while. This now is suppose to be a Walmart video surveillance tape from 2011. So it begs the question, how did someone not from Walmart get a hold of the tape. It begs the question that if it is 5 times worse than the Ray Rice tape, how come the Walmart did not turn it over to the police in 2011, the day after the incident.

All the rumors imply that Walmart was somehow involved with making the tape go away (or so they thought). It means that several individuals, including the corporate office of Walmart, could and should be included in criminal prosecution if it is "5 times worse", heck even if it is just as bad.

The rumors imply that the girl and her family and friends kept this a total secret for 4 years. How many of you can keep a secret for 4 years without saying something by accident when drinking. If it is 5 times worse, which hospital did the woman go to and why did they keep it from the police. If the police knew and covered it up, then more people will be prosecuted and fired. And who had it covered, Bryant's agent, Calvin Hill, Stephen Jones or Jerry Jones, because it is going to take serious swagger to make it stay hidden for this long.

And what about the woman's parents and family, some serious money had to be exchanged and continually exchanged. And what about all the potential shoppers that were at the Walmart when it happened. Do you believe there was no one else at the Walmart at the time of the incident? Do you believe know one heard anything? Do you really believe you couldn't find witnesses since all of Walmart is under the video surveillance? Just match faces to receipts when people checked out and if they paid by check or credit card, would take all of 2 minutes to identify them.

Some speculate that it happened in a restroom which are not under video surveillance but hey they are as soon as you leave it and when you go in. If it was a cell phone video, then do you really think that someone hasn't shown it hundreds of times to hundreds of different people by now.

C'mon, stop and think. Could it be true, sure. But if so, this will make the Greatest Train Robbery seems like a mom and pop store holdup with a peashooter.

if it does come out and it IS 5x worse than Ray Rice's video, then we HAVE to just be done once and for all with Dez.
Its already approaching the realm of where he's more trouble than he's worth in regards to the contract negotiations.
At this point, I'm already on the fence about whether its even worth it to re-sign him or just franchise him and try to get something in a trade.
My sense is that he's wanting considerably more than the franchise tag would pay him anyway, and that's just not smart for the team.
WRs are replaceable. QBs are the only players that are not.
