Among the excerpts....

One longtime AFC general manager made a point to me in the last few days that few people have considered when it comes to who should start in Dallas once Tony Romo is cleared to return.

"It doesn't matter who the Cowboys' quarterback is," he said. "That offense is set up right now so any swinging **** could run it."

Well, alright then. LOL. Then this.....

First, said the GM and a handful of other longtime front office executives with whom I spoke, the Dallas front office has built one of the NFL's best offensive lines. Not just for this season. Not only of the past few years. But of all time. We in the media don't see it that way, the general manager said, because there's no version of Nate Newton with a buoyant personality calling attention to the line.

Hyperbole much? LOL. And lastly....

Second, added this general manager and others, running back Ezekiel Elliott might end up being the best rookie runner in league history. "He's having the best season any rookie runner ever has," said the general manager. "Better than Jim Brown's or Eric Dickerson's or Barry Sanders'."

Not statistically, the GM admits. He means in terms of pure impact. He's likely not wrong.

We are so fortunate to be watching the greatest offense in mankind's history. Who knew?

I want Zeke to break The most rushing yards for a rookie. He has other years to break the single season record.
Another I would like to see, is him eventually breaking the most rushing TD's in a season. Emmitt had it, only to be broken. Time for Zeke to bring it back to Dallas.

The implication is that if the 2014 version of Romo was playing, we'd be challenging the 2007 Patriots' offense. Really makes you wonder if that guy is actually about to become available, or if it's just a pipe dream.

At this point, one has to wonder if that guy even exists anymore. But, if he does, I agree with you, the offense would be lighting up the league.

I think this OL is probably better overall than the nineties OLines.

The interior is better across the board than the 92 and 93 teams. Nate Newton wouldn't start on this OL, IMO. Not even over Ron Leary.

Tyron would get the nod over Tuinei but not by much in my book.

The obvious weak link is Free at RT where they had a healthy Erik Williams in 92 and 93.

Larry Allen was added in 94 but he didn't start at the beginning of that season and only played a couple of games together with EW before EW had the car wreck.

In 95 they had to have been pretty good because Emmitt had 25 TDs; however, EW was never the same after the wreck. IMO 95 was not the best of the Super Bowl OLs.

The current OL will likely never have the extreme physically dominant individual player like Larry Allen or Erik Williams. Tyron, Martin and Fred might be as good overall as football players because they are great technically, but they'll likely never make the greatest DLineman of their era cry like a baby (Reggie White) or have DLinemen literally scared for their life.

It's so confusing.

Multiple articles are appearing that are quoting unnamed supposed NFL executives favoring Prescott, Romo or both quarterbacks. Just who ARE these people hiding in the shadows supplying Woodward and Bernstein with all these super secret tidbits? Would they need witness protection for actual quotes requiring their identities being kept anonymous? Should Agents J and K get involved?

Seriously though, the team is functioning really well. Small changes will not (or should not) disrupt the team's (OH MY GAWD! OH LORDY! WHERE'S MY ROSARY BEADS! IT'S THE APOCALYPSE! KRAMPUS SAVE ME!) momentum.

This is true.

Tyron>Tuinei
Leary=Newton
Frederick>Stepnoski
Martin>Gogan/Gesek
Free<Williams

Disagree. Collins and Martin are both mean, nasty plow you into the ground lineman. Fredbeard is right behind them. I saw Leary blocking his man from his knees once. (He slipped.)

These guys don't want to lose their battle. Ever. They don't stop.

But for me, the biggest difference is, these dudes add an element of intelligence to their game.

They're smart.

That's what separates them from the herd, IMO.

I have tons of respect for Smith, a top three left tackle in today's league but I think I've gone blind here.

Keep in mind that Tuinei was a failed defensive lineman before they tried him on offense as a last-ditch effort. It took him a while. Tyron is still a baby.

This article makes it sound like ANYONE can do what Dak has done and anyone can be put back there.

Way too much hyperbole in those statements, for sure. But it is the easiest place to play QB in the NFL right now.

A lot of QB's never function well against the blitz, and some just don't have much arm talent. Guys at that level--and that's probably most of the guys who walk onto an NFL field--aren't going to play well behind any offensive line.
