Not quite here, although I did agree with the stated reasoning behind releasing him when I saw it and I'm loving how it's paying off so far. There are a number of guys on the Cowboys who didn't get much love last season or haven't been getting much this one.

One by one, they're getting that respect and I love seeing it.

Wade Phillips - Winning really does change things. We looked sloppy at the beginning of the season, now halfway through the new pieces on the D have begun to mesh and they're the top rated scoring D in the NFC. Phillips has made adjustments, just as I predicted and that's a great thing.

Mike Jenkins - Looked like a ballhawk last season, also looked a bit confused out there. Goodbye and good riddance confusion, hello ballhawking physical CB.

Bobby Carpenter - Bust of a 1st rounder, so what? Hes contributing now and has played well in place of Burnett. Hope to see it continue here.

Miles Austin - Wow, just wow...I was all too ready to dismiss the guy as well, glad that the coaches saw something most of us didn't even if it did take an injury to get him involved. Austin seems to do nothing EXCEPT make crucial catches.

Roy Williams - He hasn't arrived yet, but last game's performance is promising. Seems the coaches have finally started using him on the sorts of plays hes good in and he responded well.

Hoping to add Marty B and Anthony Spencer to that list pretty soon as well, they're both on my "ready to breakout" list.

GOOD POINTS...

And Tony Romo has helped, too.

“I don’t get any credit for that,” Romo said. “Those guys over there work their butts off to play well and understand concepts and schemes to make them good football players.”

After his teammates and Campo, however, Jenkins does give Romo credit.

It started with a casual conversation about routes to look for from the rookie corner to the star quarterback. The first tip came last year against the New York Giants and Jenkins intercepted an Eli Manning pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Ever since, Jenkins has gone back for more tips, one that worked two weeks ago against Philadelphia’s Donovan McNabb.

“Against Philadelphia he told me to stay on the receiver’s top shoulder because he likes to put the ball on a line instead of putting air under it,” Jenkins said. “If I know he’s going to put a lot of air under it, I’d play underneath, but I played on top because of what he told me.”
