Mike McCarthy called Trey Lance "a beautiful mind" for the way he has retained information

Trey Lance is not going to have an adverse effect on the Dallas Cowboys. Players are professionals. They’ll treat Lance like one and he’ll treat them like professionals. There is a truth to come to terms with. When the 49ers saw what Lance did as a college player and subsequently met with him, they swapped firsts and gave two more firsts and a third to acquire him. After he was in their organization for two years they decided to trade him to the Cowboys for a fourth round draft choice. There is more reason to believe Trey Lance will never start a game for the Dallas Cowboys than there is he could ever be a proficient starting quarterback in the NFL. Many here have him going to the Hall of Fame already. Dak Prescott knows he’s the Cowboys’ quarterback now and in the near future. And if anyone has “leverage” now it’s Dak. It will be pay me or hand the ball to Cooper and Trey. He’ll get a monster deal.
If we give the ball to coop or trey....will we have significantly less than we already have?

I don't see no bling in the case 'cept MOTY.

Coop saved our season last year when you wanted it tanked.

lol...that would be impossible. How would they know that the Niners were going to call? Crystal Ball perhaps?
Wasn't it fairly common knowledge that they were looking to trade him to someone? I believe I read that there were other teams who didn't bid high enough.

I don't know, from what I thought it was a random spur of the moment thing when they called JJ. I think I read that during their convo that it was brought up that there was another team, I think the Bills. But, if what you are saying then the discussion that MM did not know may be a moot point.

Jerry outbid everyone by a large margin. That's saying a lot when the niners were ecstatic to get a 4th rounder at that point.

This has been debunked by McCarthy himself.

The Zone’s opinion posts from random members are *not* an actual source.

We need to be careful to not just repeat nonsense we see on the board.
Where's the proof McCarthy was informed ahead of time of the trade for Lance?

Hopefully he has retained the Niners playbook and giving the scoop to Quinn.
Underrated comment. A lot of teams do this. I'm not saying that's why we did it (obviously Trey is a low cost chance for a possible good young player) but the added knowledge of our two time nemesis over the past two playoffs is a plus. If we can force them to play outside of that, even better.

I like Trey's tape, but he is a ways off from taking the reigns (if ever). His deep ball needs a lot of work, and his touch is sus. He's just above backup play, but not above where we're sitting. I hope he learns, and turns a leaf. There's definitely talent there.

Why can't we be optimistic for a good backup?

:hammer: :hammer:

The Dak haters know this, but they love acting ignorant. Trolling is what they do best because they are so full of hate inside their uneducated vessels.
Where did the post you’re responding to go? It’s imaginary bc the system can’t find it. Did the moderators start fact checking the nonsense and pulled the post?

Teams know what’s going on around the league before the fans do. There was speculation for a while that San Francisco may trade Lance. There was plenty of time for Jerry to meet with McCarthy about it but that’s not how he operates when it comes to personnel. This is why certain coaches would never coach the Cowboys. No way would Sean Payton be part of a team where the owner makes a trade for a QB and he’s not even told about it until after the fact.
From what I am hearing about Russ in Denver, Payton would have loved for the Denver owner to trade for Lance behind his back.

Actually Gallup burned the D deep on a post route and had an easy TD during the game and Dak underthrew him. Just one of those BIG moments that could have been.
The real question is will they ever agree with anyone that remembers the game like it was actually played. They also won’t talk about how we made a first down on our series, then the defense gave them the ball back, second or third series Dak threw interception at own 20, defense held them to field goal, dak came back out and one of the other guys that wasn’t there get 18 yards on scoring drive, ceedee got 2 or 3 rec on that drive and we scored. Defense comes back out holds them to another field goal, dak throw second pick, defense hold them to another field goal. Here’s the link to play by play for those that don’t remember and act like the whole team thre interceptions and under three TD passes. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401438006

ESPN, ProFootballTalk, and Fox Sports all look at this board for Cowboys topics. :laugh:Lance is what the Cowboys coaches, front office and owner has been saying the Cowboys needed since Dak’s season ending injury in 2021. No one seems to understand that the Cowboys have assembled one of the best quarterback rooms in the NFL. I will say this if Dak went down, I think we could be successful with a combination of Rush/Lance sharing the quarterback duties this season.

if they did, would the russ lovers have a hiss about it like they are doing here?
You think Dak is getting run through the ringer on this board? The media is putting out rumors that Russ will be replaced by Stidham by midseason. Of course nobody is talking about Wilson’s contract extension does not start until 2024.
