And in studies that account for game situation, even that 0.14 goes out the window.
Hell I knew that would be the case. No matter who Dallas hires some are going to be upset. McCarthy is a good HC and like any HC the Cowboys hire should be given the opportunity to prove himself. Unfortunately that will not happen
Oh it's going to happen whether idiots approve or not.
He is here and will prove his mettle or lack-thereof with results.
no one in Tennessee gives a crap about analytics right now.
Stats really are for losers in that regard.
So PA works no matter how well or how often you run.
Anybody seen any research into whether shotgun runs are affected by pass frequency/success from shotgun?
reread the article
That was the obvious conclusion on post 1. But we are on post 346 and I don't think people agree with this...
Yeah, I think it's pretty clear McCarthy doesn't understand analytics. That quote is pretty painful.
However, he has what he claims is a newfound respect for it. And he talked about big plans to build an analytics department. If those things are true, there's hope that he will listen to them and learn from it. Time will tell if that happens.
I've been hearing for a year or so (that I've been paying attention) that all the research says there's no correlation. Baldwin removed any doubt that might have remained for me.
It's very hard to get people to accept that result because it seems so counterintuitive.
The reality is pretty simple. Defenses bite on play-action. They aren't thinking about who that RB is and they aren't thinking about how many yards he's gotten on his last few carries. They just bite. It's what they do.
