When did Jerry buy the site?

He doesn't own ESPN or the NFLN or the radio stations, or the TV stations either.

I have seen many things discussed on here over the years. And then, wow, the topic pops up on TV or in some source of the media.
I honestly believe they look at this site to get a feel for what is going on with fans.

So yeah, you are giving Jerry what he wants. Media attention. We all are.

What’s asinine about wanting security? That’s a ridiculous statement.

But hey Jerruh loves you!
Yup. If Jerry and Stephen thought he was the guy to take us to the Super Bowl, he would have been extended before he went lame duck. They wouldn’t quibble over a couple of years. It seems like Jerry got forced into making him an offer based on the late season rally and McCarthy overplayed his hand.

:lmao2:

How about instead of blaming one or the other. Just accept that they could not come to an agreement and they both moved on.
I know it is hard to do. But that is what really happened.

That’s why offer 3 seems just crazy to me. He’s the guy you want of he’s not. If he’s your guy then what’s the issue with 5 years? If he’s not then why offer 3? I get a HC who’s never coached wanting a short deal because you don’t know what he is. The whole thing is typical Jerry

This thread is wild... so many asking what did MM do to earn a 5 year extensive / pay raise? But these same people are ok with extending certain players 5 more years... What happened to team sport? Is the coach suppose to go out throw / catch and play defense?

As I said in the other thread, Mike either wanted 5 years to protect against front office tomfoolery with the likes of Zeke and Lance being thrown at him or asked for 5 years knowing they wouldn't accept it as a parting middle finger for hanging him out to dry last season while also hampering their search for another head coach. Don't blame him one bit.

The only thing vindicated is that the front office is crappily run.

MM knew exactly to the T, what he was getting into and what he was getting out of and how to do it.

JJ is not paying for something he no longer wants. That doesnt mean cheap, to many fans buy into a lot of falsehoods, but once you dont become the toy JJ likes anymore, than he doesnt want to pay. MM was no longer the favorite toy. MM knew that, needed to get out, he proved to the league what he was capable of without a HoF QB. the LEAGUE knows what Jerry is and what Jerry wants, only fans not paying attention dont know. Everyone else knows. MM can stand on his accolades he had enough to pull Dallas out of the mediocrity BUT JJ wants it back in it.

You are not fighting an emporer who set this up for over 2 decades.

Play along and get paid, get a spine and you re out.

Its over and done with, now its time to see the orders for Shot. Other than that, useless talk.
cheap.

Stop putting so much faith in these "reports".
One side or the other leaks nonsense to effect public perception.

The reality is Jerry wanted to move on.
He gave Brian 4 years as an unknown, 1st time head coach.
Jerry is cheap as sin to be sure but the years being massive sticking point is nonsense.
Mike isn't getting 5 years anywhere else either.
But he also probably wanted to move on.
His agent 100% leaked bs about how in demand he was including 100% a Chicago hire if he came available.....

He appears to now be stuck on the sidelines with no pay check.
I am sure he can afford it but it isn't anyone's idea of a good time.

After being underpaid (considering he has a ring) & making him a lame duck, what did they expect?

I would have been looking to recoup some wages & security as well.

The only thing asinine is the Jones's thinking he would willingly sign whatever they offered .... again.

I don't know if we can say it fully vindicates the Cowboys' decision, but it makes it somewhat understandable. I wouldn't have wanted to give McCarthy a five-year deal after he just had five years to prove himself, but I can fully understand why McCarthy wanted five years. I also think McCarthy overestimated his market.
Or it costs Jerry that much for a HC to put up w/ Jerry. This franchise is currently on the downturn, for MM to sign a 3 year deal would've been foolish.

Vindicate the cowboys? This shows you how asinine they are. Mike was here 5 years yet they couldn't figure out if they wanted him back or not . The problem is no one is in control, so they sit and vote on each decision. No one shares the same vision of how to run this team, so the execution looks sloppy because it is.
They have a vision??????

Should have been that disciplined in QB negotiations.
Perhaps Jerry learns slow, but at least learns. Head coaches are expensive. Carolina fired Frank Reich in December 2022. He’s paid $25,000 PER DAY through 2026. If Jerry wasn’t interested in Mike McCarthy why offer him a contract for any length? Apparently MM is in a position with his personal finances to tell Jerry “five years or I’ll take my chances”. Jerry then merely elevated a coach already on staff that no other team had even asked to talk to. At least a few other teams talked to McCarthy.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, McCarthy wanted a five-year contract and Jones wouldn't deviate from a three-year offer.

"While no financial figures were discussed, the length of a proposed agreement was a sticking point," Archer writes. "McCarthy was seeking a five-year deal, according to multiple sources, while Jones was sticking with three."

This report fully vindicates the Cowboys' decision. It may also explain why it took a full week for the McCarthy situation to resolve itself.

MM, did exactly what he wanted and find a graceful way out of here......Jerry doesn't like to deal with coaches dead money and didn't think he would keep here that long, knowing that fans would grow impatient. Jerry thought he can squeeze three years out of it, and then shoot for manning and a new coach.

It was a ploy a strategy to be able to field other offers and leave Dallas . MM knew asking for 5 yrs was a non starter would not happen . He wanted out and I suspect he thought Caleb Williams awaited him in Chicago . He felt he could not win with Dak at the helm .

Prior to # 4 getting hurt without being touched in Atlanta the team was a non contender non playoff team .

Jerry in this instance offering 3 yrs was generous . You’ve given the msn 5 and produced one lousy playoff win giving him another 5 wouid be insane he should have been canned after the final game .
Sure, but that's not relevant to my point. MM asking for 5 was more than fair.

I do agree that he prolly wanted out. Can you imagine how incredibly frustrating it would be to work under Jerry? You never get the players you want, you're not allowed to instill discipline, and you don't get the coaches you want.
