Vindicate? All I know is that after Booger tried to extend Corky, AND FAILED, he then came out and told us that it was time to move on....as if it was all about his coaching, and he just made a great "football" decision.....what a pathetic fraud he is!!!

Based on McCarthy's playoff record, I think 4 years/$240 million would have been appropriate

I hate that contract just as much as you. Waaaay overpaid.
Honestly bro, I don’t care about that stupid contract anymore. Now it’s about is he going to rebound or are we gonna see the Dak that was middle of the pack before injury last year. If that’s what we’re getting we gotta think about the exit next offseason that’s about where I’m at with it. If I remember correctly that’s about the earliest we can manage to get out post June 1.

If Dak is unable to perform back to par due to his health, it would be a perfect opportunity to tank the 2025 season and position this team to draft Manning with the 1st overall pick in the 2026 Draft.

True, except Manning will most likely max out his college eligibility. That's what his family does, and UT is going to pay him a bundle. Might be the first 20 mil player in NCAAF. Per season.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, McCarthy wanted a five-year contract and Jones wouldn't deviate from a three-year offer.

"While no financial figures were discussed, the length of a proposed agreement was a sticking point," Archer writes. "McCarthy was seeking a five-year deal, according to multiple sources, while Jones was sticking with three."

This report fully vindicates the Cowboys' decision. It may also explain why it took a full week for the McCarthy situation to resolve itself.

Yet they give Dak a long term contract

Not really. There is no salary cap on coaching.

A shorter deal is only because the Jones’ are too cheap to hire a coach when he still has years left on his contract, meanwhile they’re raking in billions of dollars.

Truth is. If you’re going to re-sign McCarthy you do it because you believe he’s the right man for the job. Not because you think maybe he’s ok, but you’re not willing to risk an extra couple years on the deal that you may have to pay-out if you want to fire him before then.

Cheap, weak, ineffective leadership. Par for the course with this FO.
Big Mike was a disaster.

Sometimes there’s no deal to be made.

There’s no justification for giving MM a total of ten years, and I can see why he wouldn’t return without major security.

I’m sure he knew he may not get a job, but his name will absolutely be in the mix next year.

Jerry probably expected a discount since they didn’t win, but it also wasn’t MM who left gaping holes in the 22 because they didn’t find value.

NO ONE is winning here until the FO makes some serious philosophical changes. Don’t hold your breath. There doesn’t seem to be any level of failure that phases them into thinking that something about the approach may be a bit off.

They can cut him in early March 2026.
What would be the ramifications in deference to the salary cap of cutting Dak in “early March 2026”? Keep in mind Jerry couldn’t stomach the $40 million cap hit the Cowboys would have incurred had Dak become a free agent.

Since his guaranteed money is $231 mil, seems to me as if that all gets crowded into the year they cut him. That would mean like a $150 mil(or more) cap hit, wouldn't it?

I know we have outs after the 27 season, but this is the first I've heard about outs after the 25 season.

At some point, the FO should come to terms with the fact that their vet FA policy isn't working. Oh, really?!
Instead, Stephen prefers to claim he's "considering" the possibility of doing things differently. Gee, thanks!

We can surmise, Duncaniso’s expertise on the matter notwithstanding, it is not a reasonable expectation.

Oh, absolutely, I do not know. Just trying to figure out the out after one year of a 4 yr 240 mil contract w/ 231 mil guaranteed.

Somehow, several years ago…and probably more than once….I remember them claiming they should take a “long, hard look in the mirror.” Lol.

They never find anything other than greatness within themselves.
