5 yrs zero playoff success in a marquee franchise not exactly going to have owners beating a path to Frisco , Tx ,
Do you think Mike Tomlin would have people try to hire him if he were on the open market?

MM has been far more successful during his tenure in Dallas than they have been in Pittsburg.

why wouldn't they want to show support, they're used to how things are here with Mike, someone else comes in and has a difference in opinion on things, players have to buy into it or not. Keeping it simple is easier than trying something new
Simple answer.......lack of success
* How often do you see players publically support a coach who is likely to be fired? They generally either support the decision or stay quiet if they disagree. Not many wanna challenge their owner or GM.......

Marquee franchise? You mean Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys where all coaches are set up to fail?

Who has been more successful than Mike since Jerry ran Jimmy out of here to control
Jerry counts on fans like you who measure success based on fattening up on wins during the regular season against the NFC Least plus visitors now and then on the 17 game parade like the Jets Patriots Browns and Panthers of the world but collapse against the 49ers Lions Packers Chiefs of this world . Pathetic .

One lousy playoff win against a washed out Brady and a Tampa team that was lousy ,

....no doubt he's a good coach, but in reality I've lost faith in the guy.

He can win ball games, but playoff wins matter more to organization , that was use to winning in post season.

We need that back. I hope they go and get someone else.

There can't be any real optimism with this front office in place.

My question is…if McCarthy is offered to stay, will he agree to stay?
I think you answered your own question. If he’s not offered another HC position he’ll most likely be back.

And contrary to what we may think he might actually believe ( whether we do or not) he can finish the job here taking us further than we’ve been this era especially if he’s All In on our QB like Jethro is.

If Jerry doesn’t offer McCarthy a contract to continue coaching the Cowboys immediately after this season ends McCarthy and his agent will figure Jerry is exploring his options. If Jerry eventually comes back to McCarthy with an offer he and his agent will know McCarthy is Jerry’s best, or perhaps only, option. His price and number of years he’ll demand will be set accordingly.

NFL head coaches, no different than NFL players, are less expensive the sooner a team can make the decision to retain them or let them leave. Jerry Jones will allow things to remain in disarray too long, as usual.

One major truth about the NFL Jerry either hasn’t learned or doesn’t care to learn: Waiting is losing. The more proactive and decisive NFL leaders are, they are usually more likely to succeed. It’s why to wait is to lose.

In the Jones model of leadership, JJ and SJ get to “have all the fun” playing football big shots but none of the accountability for failure. They’re like guys at the craps table rolling snake eyes over and over but with enough money to stay at the table regardless.

But the other part of the Jones leadership model is it places coaches and other mid-level people as the sacrificial lambs for the sins of the Jones. When we fans fail to point the finger where it belongs, another cash register rings at the star.
Fans have to take some responsibility as well. Cumulatively we’ve enabled these fools to continue without any financial fallout as a result of their actions.

I think it gets more respect from the fans to act early too. I'm open to the team making mistakes, its going to happen, but I'd rather see the aggressive mistakes. They just seem terrified to roll the dice on anything other than 4th round picks.

He hasn’t been forced to learn. When you’re the most popular brand and largest revenue you can wait as long as you want.

They don’t have enough confidence in their football judgement and player evaluations.

They used to take some risk but have burned time and time again. Trying to develop your own guys serves their inaptitude lack of skills better.

And with no accountability in play there’s nothing besides public scrutiny to challenge or call them out. It’s a vicious cycle.

If Dak wasn’t resigned, I would want all coaches fired and start fresh. Let the new HC find his QB and go from there. Yet, here we are. Saddled to Dak for a few more seasons, might as well let Mike finish with him. They both can ride off into the sunset together. I don’t know of a better HC that Jerry would hire. Dallas is not going after Johnson, Vrabel, etc. It will come down to Mike, Zimmer, Kellen or Witten. I’ll gladly accept Mike over those other options

Yep. And we might also take into account Dak is supportive of MM staying on as well. Last thing he wants is to have to learn another offense.

I doubt Jerry Jones will offer anything to keep him but that is not the answer to the question. I will say Mike McCarthy takes his chances of being hired elsewhere.

McCarthy is fully aware of the strategies implied by his current front office management for supporting him as the head coach. He understands the intangible differences concerning team winning culture ingrained in different franchises such as Green Bay and Dallas.

Despite the recent influx in new coaches, McCarthy knows NFL owners are still very much a closely knit, recycle old coaches, club. McCarthy will enjoy a sense of certainty some owners will weigh what caused him to fall short in Dallas against what they can do to help him win for them.

My answer? No.

And that’s the elephant in the room.

Some think MM has been coaching for his job. But he may have actually been coaching for a job elsewhere.

It would be so fitting if he walked away bolting for another team after being offered an extension. Lol

Mike Tomlin 2 SB’s a 637 winning percentage holds the record for non losing seasons has 8 playoff victories . And this season with QB’s Wilson and Fields they will go double digit wins and take the NFC North a far better division then the NFC East . Last I checked they had Pickett at WR yet no one is *****ing about a lack of “ weapons “ let’s draft some more receivers song and dance .

MM one SB will suffer his second losing season in five in Dallas was fired in the middle of a losing season in GB .

See if MM or Tomlin would be a hotter commodity if they were both on the open market . Let’s see that .

So you don’t want to boast over beating the 8-9 Bucs?

Some do.
