I like Singletary. I also wouldn't mind seeing us hire an African American coach as well.

I wouldn't mind if people would quit referring to someone as an African American coach.

Why can't they be NFL Head Coaches ?

We need to stop categorizing because of skin color.

I think we still need to go ahead and find the first extraterrestrial HC. I mean, that would be a true first. ET for HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

I'd be down with Singletary. At least you know he'd have the boys fired up.

I get the feeling that Singletary's teams would play with fire, with emotion and passion.

Exactly. At some point some owner is going to give him his shot and he's probably gonna kick butt.

Why not let it be us?

If you can't see why it's important, then I doubt I can explain it to you.

However, I will share a discussion I had with a close friend of mine some years ago. Let me also say that I am not Black. I am hispanic so I have no racial dog in this fight, so to speak.

While sitting at lunch one day, a good friend of mine (former college player of African American decent, born in Texas) told me that Quincy Carter would be cut. I told him that I agreed with him. He told me that I didn't agree with him for the same reasons. I said that I thought he didn't have the talent. He said we would never have a chance to find out because he plays for Dallas. Basically, he felt like a black QB would never have a chance to develope becaue he would be cut for reasons other then performance. I did not agree with him then and looking back, I still don't however, it pointed out to me that there is still a school of thought that believes a black man won't get a good chance in Dallas. I simply would like to see that go away. I would like to be thought of as a place where any man who can do the job would be considered and celebrated. Simple as that for me.

Because we are close to where we need to be. Do you think Jones is going to give a first year coach any power? Jones has proven he don't know crap.

Maybe if we quit categorizing a man as black or white then it won't play into whether he gets a chance or not.

Before a man is "considered and celebrated" (as you say) for doing a job, why do we have to consider the color of his skin ?

How does the tone of a mans skin determine whether he can coach or lead men ?

Disregard whether he is black or white and look at a man's character, his reputation, his experience, his knowledge, his success.

Do I need to reiterate? No one is bigger than the team. Not Manboobs. Not TO. No one. So if the new HC feels that TO doesn't fit into his plans then so be it. ;)

Your dealing in what ifs. I'm dealing in what is. I'm sorry it's this way but the truth is that that's just how it is. Would be nice to be in a place where our society doesn't view things in such contexts however, that's not the world we live in. At this time, in space, it is an important thing. It may seem as if it's a contributing factor to look at things in such a way but that is only one point of view. For others, that's a very important part of this deal.

Jones wants to sell hype to the media before all else. That will be an issue for any incoming coach. owens gets Jones on all the sports shows good or bad. To Jones owens is bigger than the Cowboys.

I agree. A person's skin color shouldn't matter about anything. I've heard sports commentators, both black and white, say thousands of times that black coaches aren't or haven't been given the opportunity in the NFL and other sports. I've heard many of them say race shouldn't be considered when hiring a coach or any other organizational employee. They say they should be hired based on their knowledge, character, and ability to do the job. I agree wholeheartedly. However, what was the first thing I heard Tom Jackson and numerous others on ESPN and the NFL Network say after the two games? This is historical. The first time a Super Bowl coach has been black, not to mention the fact that both are black. Seems more than a bit hypocritical to me. These guys say race should not matter, yet it's the first thing they bring up. You can't have it both ways. Either race matters (not to me it doesn't) or it doesn't. You can't complain about race being an issues on one hand and then bring it up right off the bat when it fits your agenda. That only serves to make race an issue all over again.

I agree. It will be a bit of a touchy spot. Whichever way it goes, I support it 110%.

So people are supposed to act as if race doesn't matter and ignore the fact that there are still racist people in positions of power in America? The point raised earlier that a black qb or coach wouldn't be able to make it in Dallas isn't totally out of the question. I'm glad that you don't see race is great but unfortunately thats not the case for everyone. Me personally as a resident of Dallas I believe that majority of people in Dallas still look at color in some way shape form or fashion. It may not be hardline blatant racism but theres still an overtone of race there and there is still racial tension in Dallas and Austin also maybe the two cities I've lived in are not the norm but my experience has led me to believe that race is still an issue no matter how much we want to forget about it.

Extremely idealistic but a bit impractical and not going to happen.
