Cstanton, I don't think you got my point. Yes, I know race is an issue to some people. However, those that constantly campaign against racism (even though it still exists to some extent) should not fan the flames by complaining about it on one hand and then bringing race up when it fits their agenda. Again, you can't have it both ways, which is what many people in the spotlight try to do. That only serves to promote race as an issue even further.

It's ironic that those same people who cry out racism are making a big deal about two black coaches in the Super Bowl. Who cares? What's so special about a HC being black? Any race can coach.

I agree. A person's skin color shouldn't matter about anything. I've heard sports commentators, both black and white, say thousands of times that black coaches aren't or haven't been given the opportunity in the NFL and other sports. I've heard many of them say race shouldn't be considered when hiring a coach or any other organizational employee. They say they should be hired based on their knowledge, character, and ability to do the job. I agree wholeheartedly. However, what was the first thing I heard Tom Jackson and numerous others on ESPN and the NFL Network say after the two games? This is historical. The first time a Super Bowl coach has been black, not to mention the fact that both are black. Seems more than a bit hypocritical to me. These guys say race should not matter, yet it's the first thing they bring up. You can't have it both ways. Either race matters (not to me it doesn't) or it doesn't. You can't complain about race being an issues on one hand and then bring it up right off the bat when it fits your agenda. That only serves to make race an issue all over again.

The race of the head coach or players is not and will not be an issue in Dallas or any other city. It's based and will be based on winning and performance. The fact that it is known that Lovie Smith, though far fetched to have a shot because he is under contract and heading to SB, is rumored to be on Jones' short list of head coaches says it all. I for one would love to have Lovie here if we didn't have to mortgage the team via draft pics to get him. Not because of his race, but because he's a proven winner and he's an old school Cowboy fan from the state.

How about we concentrate on their credentials instead of "oh yeah, by the way you're black so great job!" I am sure those coaches are more concerned that they got their team to the SB versus looking in the mirror and saying, "dang, Im black and I did it!"

Fact is RACE is a very important thing to mention. The history of a black coach has been stereotyped as someone who is not smart enough to be a head coach. So when two black coaches get into a superbowl it is HUGE and it NEEDS to be mentioned, it is proof that blacks are smart enough to be HC. Fact is if a black man were to run for president in the next election(Barack Obama) people would not vote for him just because of the fact that he is black. Same with a woman(Hilary Clinton), because she is a woman people would vote for someone else. Fact is America is STILL RACIST and SEXIST today. Maybe not to the extent as it was, but it still is prejudice. People use things like "race shouldn't be mentioned" to hide the fact that race still plays a role here in this country, people figure if we stop talking about it it will go away. I we have cancer or diabetes will it just go away? NO, it has to be treated, other wise it is still there just not mentioned...If at one time people all together stopped mentioning race and sex, this country would STILL be the highly racist country it was, there would have been no civil rights movement in the 60's and minorities would still be eating out of the back of restaurants in the kitchen; why, because race isn't being mentioned, but fact is it would still be there.
although I do understand that the wise DR. King said, that people should stop judging people by the content of their skin and start judging by the content of their charcter... he also said that black people should stop taking the tranqulizing drug of gradulism( a part of the speech a lot of people forget )... Race is still huge and should mentioned especially if its of the likes of a black coach coming to Dallas.

I just picked up Madden 06 for $9. Not bad. Turned off the QB vision cone ... realized it was the same as Madden 05.

If I can save up enough for an Xbox 360, I may consider 07. :)

I honestly wonder how many of your 4000 posts are not bashing madden in some way lmao.

It's important in the case of Lovie and Dungy because it's unprecedented--it has never happened before. Therefore, their race, in this particular situation, is absolutely worth mentioning--we're not condemning the past or championing the present--just merely making notice of HISTORY!

Your post was spot on. I'm really trying to stay out of this whole race blah blah talk... However, history is history. I bares some mention that for the first time ever in the history of the NFL two black head coaches will take the field in the Super Bowl. That is quite an accomplishment which deserves some mention. Notice I said "some". I like the way Dungy and Smith both downplayed it last night. It's about the 53 guys that take the field. Let's keep it about that.

You DONT need proof. That's the whole point. Why should I be forcefed that? I don't even see skin color when watching football. Who says that blacks aren't as intelligent as any white person? That is ridiculous. Its like saying "Hey two blacks are coaching the SUPER BOWL! SEE SEE!! THEY ARE SMART AFTER ALL!"

Race is only huge because of those making a big deal by playing the race card. In the grand scheme of things, it is nice to see both of them coaching the big game, but it doesnt prove anything to me that a black is indeed smart. They always have been just as long as any white guy or other race for that matter. A man is a man no matter what his skin.
