Mike Zimmer and Viking Rumors

I don't hate Zimmer but it does very much feel like treading water.
He's like the defensive version of JG.

I will say the way the DC used Jaylon Smith was criminal.
They treated him like Brian Urlacher instead of a guy whose a pit bull going forward and poodle when you put him on skates.

Couldn't agree more on Jaylon. He has LEO written all over him. You have to get him coming downhill as much as possible.

First of all, the Vikings would be stupid to fire him. That team was terrible before he got there and now they're one of the better teams in the conference and have been for a few years.

Second, he's not another Jones pushover. There was a SI article years ago about the 2002 pre draft meetings where he was going at Jerry (and Jason's dad Jim, who insisted Phillip Buchanon was the truth - LOL) pretty hard.

That's a big reason I think he'd be good here, because he's someone Jerry would be comfortable with but he's also not a yes man.

:clap:Those comparing him to Garrett have no idea. Zim is far from yes man. Fact is, he very demanding of players AND COACHES ( ask Norv Turner and hell, they WERE friends)

But is Zimmer just another puppet coach under Jerry? I just don't want another "yes man". I want a coach that demands to have authority to do what needs to be done. Does Zimmer have that type of personality?
It requires a miracle to get such a coach while Jerry still owns the team. I am not suggesting that Zimmer is a "yes man" but it is so much better to have at least a good coach even if he would be a puppet. Zimmer, even for this wierd reason, would be a great fit here.

Lol. I’d be right back in the position with Zimmer I am with Garrett. I’d love it. So would the rest of you. Be honest.
zimmer is just another garrett a average coach who will never win any thing of importance they are both mediocre when it comes to winning

Jerry and McClay are the most prominent draft voices, but even still, how is that much different than what we've done? In fact, DB is probably this team's biggest need at the moment.

The guy was also responsible for Anthony Barr and Daniel Hunter, two world class players, so it's not all bad.

He has a less talented team than the Cowboys and made the playoffs in a tougher division. That's really all that needs to be said.

I can see Zimmer being the guy because I think he'd be fine with keeping Kellen as OC and I think that's something Jerry will want.

Really, the only glaring issue with Zimmer is that he's not the shiny new, young toy everyone wants. Oh, and no rings.... :/

I dont think our CBs and Woods are as bad as advertised. Id like to see them in a better system working cohesively with the rest of the defense. Not to say it isn't a need, but more prominent we need DTs, A Safety, LBS and DE if Quin leaves. Although I am also holding out hope that Jaylon and LVE can return to 2018 form. They were way too good for me to believe they are this bad.

That would be a "meh" hire. Don't want another Jerry guy.
Ya'll need to be enlightened here. Any guy JJ hires is going to be a "Jerry" guy. That's just the way it is and will always be until JJ's demise or removal.

Hue is a terrible HC but good OC
Maybe but the thought of Hue or Marv being associated with this organization makes my tummy turn. Just have negative perception of them. Fair or unfair, I don't know but I say bring in some fresher faces.

Zimmer's teams have been through the ups and downs roller coaster like Garrett's teams.

so add this to make it 66 possible HC candidates. Lmao

fans and media are sitting and guessing in a frenzy and jerry is calm and will take care of it when he decides too.

Jones has the entire sports environment right where he wants, talking about the Dallas cowboys when they missed the playoffs.

yet during the college and pro post seasons in full tilt, the Cowboys are trending at the top..

Jerry is going to hire someone we have never heard of just to spite everyone. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kellen Moore gets promoted...

If we kept here comes "crazy"??? Moore as OC...Zimmer would give us a great defense. But it should be a better plan "A" versus this plan "b".

Personality may be totally different but they have similar career arcs and similar Jones family ties.
Zimmer even won 8 games 2 of the last 4 seasons in Minny, lol.

Word is the Vikings really like their OC Stefanski, and rumors are if the Vikings lose to the Saints Zimmer could very well be out and Stefanski the next HC.

No secret that Zimmer was really liked by Jerry he just wasnt a guy for Parcells. I think he would be a name to watch if he is ousted in Minnesota.

Wasn't a guy for Parcells?

Dude worked under BP his entire time here. BP liked him enough to teach him the 3-4 instead of bringing in someone who'd coached that D before.

he would for sure be a comfort pick and one fans should not want..

why rumor's have started he might hire a stronger defensive HC and ask him to keep KM/Kitna and be sure to not make Dak uncomfortable with a completely new offensive system..
no FN way we want that, I want a new HC who picks and all new staff with new schemes etc.. we need a new voice with a new plan..

hiring a retread for comfort will enable Jerry to fall into his old ways..i do not want a frankensteined staff of old and new ..its time for a purge..

I agree that I'd like to see this talent in a different, more aggressive scheme. We went and drafted athletes, then asked them to play like studious players. Get athletes and play them as athletes. Attack and dictate. Don't rely on them to deduce the play.

Recall the GROZ movement???

Right, that'd be the "get rid of Zimmer movement." It was deliriously prevalent for awhile there.

I'm not altogether too sure that he's altogether a good mix whenever he's paired up with Jerry.

Then again, it's entirely possible that someone might say as much about plenty of people!

My guess, it would either be Hue or Gary Kubiak

Gross. I was already not a fan, but absolutely not.

There are retreads, then there are beyond-mold just burn it to the ground retreads. Both of them fit the second description.
