How can you judge his hands? by kickoffs?

Unless you go to practices how do you know about his hands?

Maybe by the way he handles and holds on to the ball (well, most of the time)

While I like what I've seen so far from Miles, and some of the other young WRs, I would still feel better if we drafted a WR on the first day in April. Like everyone else on here, I would really like to see Miles pan out for us, but in terms of his physical attributes, he puts me in mind of Randall Williams. He also had speed to burn and size, but yet he never put it together for us, or the Raiders either for that matter. So that's why I'm still somewhat skeptical about Miles, he has the physical tools, but I still want to see him put it all together on the field during the "regular" season, and not just look good in camp and/or pre-season games.

I agree. I would like to see some of the other WR pan out and become part of the mix but I do think Dallas has to look to the draft to find a top prospect WR. Both Glenn and TO are not getting any younger.

I'm totally for taking a WR on the 1st day, but that doesn't mean because I don't think Miles Austin could potentially turn out to be a #1 someday, but to be able to pair 2, very talented WRs is very appealing to me, we can't keep Crayton forever, and a roster in the future of say, Paul Williams or Craig Davis at 1 Wr spot, Austin at the other, and Hurd in the slot, looks pretty promising

The difference between Austin and Ra. Williams is that Randal was big and fast in a straight line, and that's all he had. He had no agility, no quickness, no ability to cut, and he couldn't catch.

Miles isn't as fast or tall, but I think he has the advantage in every other category.

oh, Randall Williams could catch

in Training Camp lol I remeber he was the TC star for 2 years running, snagging impossible throws, but totally stank it up in the bright-lights of preseason

Some of you guys are stooges....

Thinking fumblitis and "one play wonder" is a #1

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

UFA arent #1 receiver's and never will be. He might be a decent 2 in 4 years, if he is given time to play.

You wont a hopeful #1.... Draft a WR 1st through 3rd round and draft him on his potential not his immediate impact and you MIGHT luck out...

I don't think it's likely that he'll ever be a #1, but it takes a stooge to say that he will "never" be one.

We saw the same ridiculous comments in the Henson threads (re: Romo).

The better question? How So? If anything it just reinforces what I asked. Those guys missed no time so Austin got no time and as a result saying that he looks to be a #1 reciever is just a be premature, don't ya think?

I guess if you look at it in a "the glass is half empty" sense. I took it that you were saying that because he didn't play that proved he was no good. IMO he has shown enough tangiables to be optimistic about his future as a starting wideout.

an ufa working for BP is good. if you work hard you can possibly sit on the bench and learn. whereas if you're a draft pick you're expected to play.

miles austin didn't catch a single pass. his only pass of the preseason was on a broken play and he scored a td. although BP was hiding him.

as far as colston, payton also made terence cooper a decent wr. so colston would probably be a #3-4 on any other team.

Just like the Berry O threads too....

Another 4.6 safety to get toasted.

Im sure you were on that bandwagon as well.

You do know a leg injury ended his career right, just wanted to point that out. So that kinda nullify that example.

No, I didn't expect much out of him. I don't expect much out of many players that are drafted late or undrafted. It is possible, however, that Romo, Hoyte and Hurd/Austin could be long-term starters.

There isnt much to his game i don't like from what i have seen.
Speed, Hands, Toughness.

Well lets call around and see if any other NFL people agree.

Maybe someone like oh, say, Tampa Bay isnt as sold on Calvin Johnson and they happen to agree about Austin.

So we'll ship him there and maybe throw in a 4th rounder to make sure they get a lil extra value for their pick... and then we'll take Johnson.

Or would we be gambling too much there? ;)

Dont forget Tyson Thompson too.

Wouldnt that be something. Starting QB, RB, FB and both starting WR's all undrafted guys.

Yeah, as if.

I haven't seen him running that many routes so im not so sure how he is there, but Parcells said he has tremendous potential as a WR.

We are fine at WR IMO.

Owens 2 more years on his contract
Glenn should be here untill he retires
Crayton great #3 and is still pretty young
Austin
Hurd

we are fine

Yeah. I heard ARod plays WR quite well.

Colston rated worse than Austin and we all know what he did in his rookie year. I don't pay any attention to "scouting reports" for the draft. They are the same ones that had Tom Brady rated lower....

i'd be SHOCKED if Austin ever became a great #3 receiver, much less become a #1 receiver. i think at best he will become a solid #3 receiver...
