So far it has done virtually???? You are to much sometimes. He hasn't had a chance. Man you are tough on our guys. It's instant gratification or bust.

Is he worth a 4th? I have no idea. But I'm willing to give him a chance. Which is more than 99% of the others in here are. Throw into a new system being ran with a backup QB who he has no experience with and a HC who is a terrible play caller? He is set up to fail right now with the learning curve he has to overcome.

I know this - the trade was about next year. Not this year. So 3 games into it and he isn't making people forget about Bob Hayes, Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin isn't a reason to start pushing panic buttons. Not given the situation he was thrown into. With Cooks back, I don't expect him to get many targets the rest of the year. Which means nothing but the over reaction will be ridiculous.
How is it unreasonable to expect more than 2 catches in 3 games from a second year receiver we traded a 4th round pick for? We have one of the top WRs in the game and three young receivers we’re trying to develop. The trade made no sense based on the needs of we have.

I'm neutral on the trade.
- Mingo was picked 39th overall in 2023.
- Panthers traded him mid way through his 2nd season.
- I don't think I would like it if the Cowboys traded away an early 2nd player for a 4th.

People that didn't like the trade are not going to like it unless proven wrong.

People that were OK with the trade are going to wait.

Mingo (hard to evaluate at this point):
- 2023: Rookie with a rookie QB. The QB struggled and had a 33.4 QBR for that season.
- 2024: Mingo had his best games with Andy Dalton at QB.

Probability of contributing in 2025:
Pro: Probably higher than a 2025 4th round WR.
Con: If he does have success, then unrestricted free agent after 2026 season.

Side Note:
- Some of the better offenses in recent years have put a very big enphasis on WR blocking skills.
- It was most notable when the Rams made it to the Super Bowl for the 2018 season.
- The 49ers put a big emphasis on it.
- I've haven't studied the Lions, but it's been reported as a key requirement by their Offensive Coordinator.

New system, new QB (a backup at that), bad play caller.

We spent a 4th on Mingo and people act like we got this polished WR that would come in and set the world on fire.

I checked the other 4th round WR's taken last year. Here is what they are doing this year:

Derius Davis 6-46
Charlie Jones 1-5
Tyler Scott 0-0

Doubt anyone expected him to step in and set the world on fire. But for a second year player who was a second round pick and cost us a 4th, I expected more than 2 catches and a drop after 3 games. Don’t compare him to 4th round player players.

I don't really expect to see many amazing plays and/or catches from Mingo.

If he was OK, he wouldn't have been ditched by the Carolina Panthers.

It takes more than good speed and exceptional size to be a special player!!

I suspect Mingo was acquired as a desperate fill-in for an injured CD Lamb.

Likely the case but I’d get him reps to see. But I’d get Lance and every kid that’s gonna be here next year reps

The fact that he couldn't cut it in that WR room in Carolina says it all. Gave up on a 2nd round pick in less than 1.5 seasons. Watching Carolina recently, they have old man Theilen and nothing else.

Interesting analysis, but no other team would have given up a 4th round pick for him.

The Lions got Z’Darius Smith out of Cleveland for a 5th one yr a 6th following yr to soften the impact of trading two picks and they got a veteran Edge to really provide help .

A 4th for an emergency QB who won’t even start against a bad Carolina team and another 4 on a receiver who hasn’t broken the stat sheet yet …double 4’s for Lance ‘Mingp .

We can't even get our top receiver enough targets, especially when he's rolling like he was in the 1st quarter last night.

Mingo has a very interesting catch per target rate. Meaning a really crappy catch per target rate. There is a reason that a guy who looks like he does has had very little production in college and the NFL. That reason is…he can’t play football.

Maybe I'll change my mind later, but so far he looks like a total bum. Like he doesn't GAF and barely wants to be out there.

Or you could say, like a guy who loses his job to an undrafted free agent. Which is exactly what happened in Carolina.

Great trade, Jerry.

I think I know what the problem is.

The problem is he looked like a bust, and we thought it was a good idea to still give up a 4th for him. Then he gets here and does nothing to show differently.

Yeah he's not had a fair shake here, but he already failed at one team. Thieland and this years rookie are doing just fine in Carolina. Mingo might yet develop. I'm just not sure how you justify chasing a bust for a 4th.
