Depends on where the pick is now and expected to be next year, but yes, I've seen it that way several times.
I've also seen somone with a pick at the end of a round this year trade next year's same round plus the following round as well. I think the Pats did it it a couple of years ago.
So if your pick is, say 127, and you think you will get next year's 99 and 131...it may not be too bad at all.

Anyway, I hear you. Kind of din't expect anyone to drop out anyway unless they had to leave or something.
