It is actually not bad if he stays healthy. It is a lot better than trading Thor for that other guy
I agree! IF he stays healthy.

Raja Davis baby. the hits just keep on coming for the Metsies....We have moved the win meter from 77 to 77 and 1/2 with all these moves.
Astros sign Michael Brantley. 2 yrs at $16 mill per. That's a bargain.
Reports are that the Astros have now turned their attention to Realmuto but the Marlins won't budge on Kyle Tucker being involved in the deal.
And if they give up Tucker I'll snap.
Here's how things are IMO...
Having Realmuto opens the door a wee-bit wider for the Astros in '19. But that being said, they're already heavily favored to win the division.
And even if Tucker turns out to be a .280, 25 HR guy (I think he'll be better than that) That's 6 years worth of control you would be giving up in order to get Realmuto and his 2 seasons of control.
Between this offseason and next offseason the Astros could lose all 5 starters from the '18 team. That's what happens when you have a core group that the team doesn't control for very long.
I don't want to see the same thing happen to the non-pitchers of the team. 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, Each year one of the main core guys is going to be a free agent. You gotta have some young talented guys that you can keep control of for the next 6 seasons.
Trading for Realmuto opens the door a little wider in '19, but keeping Tucker keeps the door open longer IMO.
I agree with all of this. Especially the snapping part. Kyle Tucker will be another future building block with Atuve, Bregman, Springer and Correa.
Thrown in Verlander, Cole and Whitley when he's called up a free agents are more likey to look the Astros' way.
I'm just hoping that they sign a good # 3 or 4 pitcher right now or at least trade for one. Just leave Tucker out of it.
Agreed.
Over the next couple years I would like to see them solidify the starting rotation with say 3 guys that they have 6 years of control over... That will do wonders for helping maintain some control over the overall salary of the club and give them the fighting chance of retaining at least one of these guys long-term (Springer, Correa and Bregman). I think Springer is up for FA after 2020, Correa after 2022 and Bregman after 2023. Springer's probably the easiest to resign. Bregman may be the most important. If there's one guy that I'm already pessimistic about the Astros retaining and that's Correa.
Puig to the Reds!
The Phillies aren't getting Harper or Machado.
If the Phillies missed out on both that would be disappointing for the Philly fan base... Since really the middle of last season it seemed the Phillies would be signing one or the other.
Even signing Kuechel, who's more of a #3 or #4 starter at this point, would be underwhelming if they missed out on the two big bats.
Still think they'll get one of the two. Yankees aren't willing to pony up for Manny and Dodgers rumored to not want to go over luxury tax..so they'd still have to shed some salary to get Harper.

Harper will be a Dodger, probably as early as next week.
Yeahhh..wishful thinking by a Dodger fan. Nothing more.
I am not even close to a Dodger fan
Ah. Well then..you're just wrong. Lol
