Baseball needs a way of being able to keep a star player or too, like the "tagging" system in the NFL.

They do have something called a Qualifying Offer for around 17m this year

If the Player declines they get a top Draft Pick

And I get that. But it's not nearly as effective as being able to tag a guy to keep him.

But owners have been overpaying for ****** contracts since the beginning of free agency.

Look up Wayne Garland or Richie Zisk.

I think it is analytics

the numbers are too hard to ignore and the contracts have gotten too big

when teams are getting replacement level WAR for 100m contracts it gets the IT guys attention

Anti tanking rules for the Draft

They should also cap contracts to 5 years of guarantees and give players FA one year sooner(5 years of service)

The closest "local" team I follow is the Yankees and they're 8 hours away. I'm closer to Baltimore and Washington DC than I am NYC.

Several good suggestions there...

Love to see the DH in both leagues. Without pitchers hitting in the minors they're worse than god-awful trying to hit at the major league level. Just unlikely to see it until the next CBA is hammered out.

Yes to a pitch clock.

Not sure about the "3 batter" rule for relief pitchers. In between on that.

You can sort of control the "relief-pitcher-parade" by capping the number of pitchers allowed on the 25-man (or 26-man) roster.

Also like the anti-tank draft rules.

Lowering the mound? It's a consideration. Whatever can be done to reduce the amount of strikeouts.

The Pads have a wealth of young talent... Adding Harper could make them a very competitive team here very soon.
