Winning in the playoffs: And yes, it's different than winning in the regular season.
Hitting: You want guys who work counts, who don't swing at bad pitches, and most of all guys who can hit good pitching. You're just not going to see all that many bad pitches at this point. Make the pitcher throw strikes.
Pitching: Good stuff. I've seen way too many times where a pitcher who gets by w/ location gets rocked in the postseason. Those batters who swing at sliders outside the zone get fewer and fewer the further along you get in the playoffs. You really need guys who throw gas. Guys who hit 96 and higher w/ movement. There's just no replacing fastballs w/ movement.
At the end of WS, what did the Astros go to last season? Peacock and Morton, two guys who have great stuff, pitchers that are just hard to hit.
Why? Because at that point, there are simply too many hitters who are going to wait out the Gregersons and Fiers and other location pitchers.
