MM clock management is the worst in the NFL

So you're saying what I said was not true?
Yes.

The Steeler's had only 15 seconds. That is true. What is not true is that it was McCarthy that got them there.

If McCarthy had his way, they would have way more time and a probably a timeout.

If Dak scores on his 1st down play - nearly a minute and a timeout left for Pit.
If Dowdle scores on his 2nd down play - 30 or so seconds and a timeout left for Pit.
If 3rd down play works - 25 or so seconds and a timeout left for Pit.
If Pit doesn't waste their timeout before 4th down - 15 seconds and a timeout.

Ineptitude left the Steelers with 15 seconds.

Which is why they needed to call the TO at that point.

In 2 previous plays when they tried to hurry the snap. Dak threw an INT and he fumbled.
MM did the right thing. To settle him and the offense down. Time to reset and make sure they did the right thing.
If they did not try to hurry those plays, those 2 turnovers most likely would not have happened.

However, out couch and basement fans think they know better.
The objective was to get the TD. Not to care if the Steelers had 15 seconds or 25 seconds on the clock. The way the defense was playing, the odds were in Dallas's favor.
Then you drain some clock and then call the timeout.
There is nothing to this "don't rush" argument that excuses the clock not being ran. You know this, but continue to ignore it.

Nobody is suggesting anyone hurry. Quite the opposite.
Actually, I take that back. You are suggesting they hurry, since you agree with their approach and hurry is exactly what they did after the 10 second runoff.

Managing the clock properly does not preclude or hinder the primary goal of scoring a TD.

Logical fallacies after logical fallacies.

That was inexplicable. Outside of the Luepke catch/run however: not sure these were MM's fault. Seemed Dak was antsy a few times.
No way to can absolve the head coach there. He has direct access to Dak via headset. I’m confident he’s the one pressing Dak to hurry.

what? You mean you were worried that the Steelers would have too much time to score after we did? The difference was going to be nominal, either way they were going to have very little time to try and we did had to make sure we scored, that was the priority. As it is we barely scored at the end, barely. I think McCarthy has the bad time management rep and people just look for this some more to complain more.
1 minute and 1 timeout is not minimal time. Nice try but no

They didn’t have to hurry!!! They needed to slow it down and not call timeout. And they DID HURRY after the Dak scramble. What are you talking about haha
Talking the TO after the Leupke catch and run. The TO they took, then could discuss the next 2 or 3 plays. Hence, the hurry up play.
That is what I am talking about. haha back at you.

Yeah, the timeout after the Luepke screen was questionable but I guess they just didn't want to rush and make sure they got the right call in.

Yeah so you let the clock run and then call timeout. This isn’t rocket science

I wonder what the Steelers forums are saying. Wonder if they are cursing Tomlin for clock management issues.
They are probably cursing MM for calling that TO, so his offense could rest and reset. Get 3 plays called to have time to execute them.

They may even said MM out coached Tomlin on that series, well the entire TD drive.

We get...oh, the usual MM's poor decisions and poor clock management. Instead of enjoying what actually transpired.

:lmao2:

This guy is an absolute bone head when it comes to managing the clock. That display was a total embarrassment.
Apparently you don’t watch NFL football. Most coaches are struggling with this right now. It was a common talking point in most games the last two weeks

I watch plenty of football and a lot of coaches do struggle with it. What I saw last night is about as bad as it gets. Other coaches sucking at clock management doesn’t make MM any better. What a stupid argument that is

What are you talking about? MM managed the clock just fine. I think you just need to have something to complain about despite the win.

Among MM list of top 5 bad coaching mistakes, this is number 5. I can think of worse things he is responsible for. And which will ultimately get him fired.
