you could be right.

Big Mike's contract is expiring after 2024?

He could just let him go, like Jason.

Of fire him, if we lose in the WC/DIv round again.

We are also looking at changes in the OL, RB, and QB in 2024.
Just take up pin ball where you can just tilt the machine...

And you sure better hope Tom Brady is coming with him; cause he has done zilch without Tom Brady.
Nor would any coach without a quarterback. Not Andy Reid, not Tom Landry, no one. All you can go by is what he's done with a good QB. No other coach comes close. No matter who their QB was.

This team is one of the most talented teams in the league. My Aunt Mabel could coach it to winning record. Most penalized team in the league again, horrid clock management again, can’t stop the run, yet again but hey, the old “who are you gonna get instead of MM” rationale persists…… tell you what, let’s do nothing and get the same worthless results and watch some really talented players waste their career here…….this is a recording……

Well.... that same Hall of Fame quarterback couldn't get another superbowl win WITHOUT McCarthy.....

So again, Garrett's name should not be mentioned in the same breath as McCarthy's.
You didn't answer the question though.

What good is a SB win a decade ago with a Hall of Fame QB and a different franchise if he can't muster results better than what Garrett delivered? Again, if we bow out in the divisional round (or worse, the WC round) how can anyone claim McCarthy is doing a really nice job? He would have taken this franchise no further than Garrett ever did. It's not about comparing Garrett's resume to McCarthy's. It's about simply looking at the results. And in four years, if we lose early in the playoffs, McCarthy has done very little to get the Cowboys over the hump Garrett never could.

Exactly. I'm no Garrett fan either. But
for those who claim it's so different now then where is the "bottom line" improvement?
Also known as post season success.

Outstanding post by the way.

It just doesn't make sense to me. We dumped Garrett, rightfully, because at the end of the day, his teams could never get over the hump in the playoffs. It was just disappointment after disappointment.

So to be touting McCarthy as having done a really nice job here when he's not been able to advance further than Garrett could is weird to me. This is arguably his most talented and best team he's had in Dallas. If this team craps out again in Rd 2 (or the WC round), how can anyone who criticized Garrett for his failures then turn around and claim McCarthy is doing really well?

I set my standard prior to the start of the season...and they come clean or this fan gives them a mulligan. They better show up starting this game, or it's more luck than skill and leadership. You beat your opponent if you are better. At least that level warrants actual analysis next game.

Understood...

The guys won double digit game a in three straight years. Hes not getting fired.

He likely won't be because Jerry doesn't fire guys early. So he's sticking with McCarthy through 2024, at least.

But if this team spits the bit in the playoffs and bows out early yet again, make the case that he's doing a much job than the previous HC, who frankly, wasn't good enough.

If they bow out against the nfc winner perhaps if they lose to the niners it would suck but not enough to make a changem

Today's players don't listen to coaches or anyone older than 30. They listen to their brand. They nod and ignore their coaches.

Generational crisis.

3 years ago and that playoff loss to SF MM preached that they will address the penalties, 3 years later they still lead the league in penalties. Last playoff loss he talked about playing with urgency on the road, they are now 3-4 with 3 losses by 20 plus points. Today he talks about this gap on the road as if we and more importantly players will now listen when it’s 3 years of the same mistakes. Sure MM’s teams beat bad teams by 30. If the plan is to win a SB we all know it won’t happen with this coach and certainly not this year with having to win 3 straight on the road to get there. If JJ is content with losing in the second round then keep the status quo.
Really?? they're on one of the best stretches in Cowboys history since the 90s in consistently winning games and getting into the playoffs three straight years with double digit wins

SO!

by the way let me drop some knowledge on you ,

maybe you haven't paying attention you know Pete Carroll his team leads the league in penalties a lot and by the way they won a Super Bowl and went to another Super Bowl and back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014 leading the league in penalties you could hardly control what the rest do lot of those ticky tack penalties a lot of the head scratching penalties or you're playing aggressively.

blaming this on the head coach alone is ridiculous, you can't in this league in the NFL full professional millionaires under contract with unions make ultimatums like you can in high school and college. you cannot cut players ,you cannot sit players, they make too much money, they're far too important because a lot of these penalties are happening by our superstars or at least our 22 starters.

So again, why didn't they fire Pete Carroll?? Pete Carroll's regularly has his team in the top five and penalties but again because this is not sit with you let it land, they won a Super Bowl in 2013 leading the league in penalties and they got back to another Super Bowl in 2014 and would have won if it would have been a stupid play call had to go line leading the league in penalties please stop acting like this is some death sentence...

All Mike McCarthy can do is each week in practice and film sessions have his coaches in instill the fact that they need to stop with the penalties but if you look at last week the first two are so ticky tack to me that was not roughing the passer and to me that was not a penalty on Kearse hitting the WR.. So how are the players and coaches supposed to overcome when the refs make these boneheaded calls?

It's an all time bad era in officiating, think about all the people right now saying there's a conspiracy even though it may not be true it looks like that because that's how incompetent and no accountability being held to the referees.... They are affecting games that game snowballed out of control because two of those penalties last week could have went the other way they have too much control and if those are not called we probably have a pretty good shot that staying in that game longer and making adjustments...

How many of these type of threads will the OP make now. This seems like 5 or 6.
Never see it with wins.
He's an obvious hater a troll a pot stirrer likes to be negative he's in that new era of social media where you can claim to be a fan of a team and then just rip it apart on a weekly basis like the skip bayless of the amateur crowd...lol

That's not happening because Jerry Jones loves Mike McCarthy.
It's probably not gonna happen because Mike McCarthy's got this team winning consistently better than all the way back to the mid 90s that's the last time that we've had three straight years of double digit wins and three straight years of playoff appearances!!

I mean come on dude that's not why Mike McCarthy's having a job here it's because he's successful he's not getting us in the Super bowl now our teams do that every year lots of losers if you look at 31 teams not winning Super Bowls, many are not finishing top six,

at least we're in the top six the last three years. I mean dude that is just ridiculous you think this is some kind of nepotism, no this comes from the fact that Mike McCarthy has done his job pretty well and he needs to be able to finish it you don't fire a guy that has this kind of resume which by the way a lot of people are saying that allow Dan Quinn to be the successor of you seeing what his group has done lately? Things don't get better just because you move on from your GM and head coach or your quarterback...fans think like this..

I think a lot of you think that but I see a lot of teams that wish they had what we have right now., I as a fan alone I don't want to be part of these fringe teams that only win five games a year or get lucky and go 8- 9 or or 9-8 ,

we literally are earning our way into the playoffs and right now as it stands Mike McCarthy 's job should not be on the line...

And I'm gonna remind you too and we're just talking about the penalties Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks won the Super bowl leading the league in penalties and they went to the Super bowl the next year leading the league in penalties the Seahawks are regularly getting penalized in the top five and yet Pete Carroll still has his job well Mike McCarthy also has a Super Bowl win and been to a couple Super Bowls and he's winning you don't fire coaches in that situation unless you know that the next guy is gonna bring you a Super Bowl, show me the guarantee?

Depends on where we lose in the playoffs.

He’s screwed up our playoffs already.

We look like a #5 seed. Which is a disaster.

A poor showing in a road loss and maybe Jerry thinks about cutting big Mike.

January is when decisions like this are made.

DQ is certainly a candidate.

If he does remove Mike, it’s not that expensive. Mike only has one year left on his deal.

The HC needs to go? man how quickly we forget how 1 injury means the season is over, how if we have a winning record one year we know we will be 500 the next...The HC is fine, some of these players need to STOP making mental mistakes..I'm pretty sure every coach on the field has told them this..
We look like a 5th seed in the playoffs.

That’s not good.
