He is not a big time player anymore. Good maybe but not big time.[/Q
He was great in 2016, this is far from that guy.
In your esteemed and honest opinion: is he JUNK, or is he GARBAGE?
Enquiring minds...
Zeke does not have the mental make up of Smith or AP. Not even close. He was great in 2016 so at least you have that. It's possible. The only thing I said is that we need to keep the circumstances of this season in mind. There are also other backs who had a down year for various reasons and came back strong in their sixth season. He could easily have a couple more very good seasons in him.
I know that there are not many backs in the last 20 years to have been superstars in their sixth season, but it's kind of funny that both Emmitt Smith and Adrian Peterson had their best rushing seasons in their sixth year. I might can look up other players that had long careers that had similar success their sixth year, but I don't want to put that much effort into it.
This isn’t 1990.
He doesn't have a great work ethic. He relied too much on his natural ability and has slid each year. Meanwhile, Henry was busting his butt in the gym and has ascended. Can you imagine how good Zeke could have been if he actually got better after his rookie year instead of peaked during it?Zeke does not have the mental make up of Smith or AP. Not even close. The problem is his offense doesn't feature heavy use of RB. Add Pollard carries and Zeke becomes a part-time back on a top tier contract. Last I check, his carries were down about 30% from his average I think.
100% agree. I also feel like this is a systemic issue with this team. The front office goes into each year expecting players to be better than they were the year before. IMHO this is a big mistake. The average NFL player will be worse than the year before. Especially if they just had a good year. QBs are the obvious exception to the rule. Expecting player to be better the year after a career year in their contract year is insane. Extending them a year or two before you need to because you somehow think you are going to get them locked them in on a "good deal" is insane. He doesn't have a great work ethic. Which fb?Zeke has the skill set of a fullback.
This team is loaded with talent across the board. Just ask them.
I wonder how many Cowboys fans were saying the same kind of things about Emmitt in 1994 when he averaged just 4.0 yards per carry of in 1996 when he averaged a career low of 3.7. Some of you would have been ready to toss him after that year.
Careers fluctuate. Sometimes a player does hit a wall and is done, but sometimes circumstances lead to them having a bad year in comparison to their other years. If there was ever a year where circumstances played a part in a down year, 2020 would be that year.
