MNF has been a case of who cares for a long time. In this case they got lucky; I would like to hear what the AVERAGE ratings is for MNF for the past few years

The average has been really low. This game being rated high by MNF standards is slightly misleading because this game was actually featured on national ABC so that's skyrocketed the ratings.

Over 95% of the MNF games in the last 15 years have been ESPN only. They've been more aggressive this year with featuring more games on ABC, mostly due to ESPN profits plunging 20% this year

It was a Super Bowl rematch with two teams that were leading their conferences before the game so not surprised at all a lot of people watched it.

At least Jerry gets to see non-Cowboys games generating some high ratings.

Exactly. Good matchup plus it was featured on ABC which of course will jack up the ratings vs the game being on ESPN only (over 95% of the MNF games in the last 15 years have been ESPN only so of course ESPN + ABC dual broadcast will destroy the typical MNF rating average)
