Mock Draft on ESPN Last night

If that scenario plays out I believe Dallas drops.

I think the high 2nd would become a RB.
They'd likely look DE/CB with the lower 2nd and the two 3rds.

I could see for instance:

~35 OO DE likely SDE
60 Tevin Coleman/Ajani/Yeldon RB
75 Ron Darby CB
91 Mario Edwards Jr as a 3T

I dont think the cowboys see him as a 2 down LB,they must really love his athleticism and he is a good blitzer and rush from the DE spot.

Drafting him would probably be the beginning of a shift to the LEO position that Seattle uses so well.

In that scenario I would take Malcolm Brown.

Best player at his position and also happens to be at our biggest need position.

That is who Peter King has going to Dallas in his final mock this morning.

Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside lol.

LOL.
I have seen zero indication Dallas would draft a DT in round 1 even if it was Randy White reincarnated.

I just don't think they value the position and I believe they like their DTs more than the fans do.
They also like Crawford quite a lot and think DTs should be rotated frequently.

Dallas had a pretty clear pattern to the visitors: CB/RB/DE.

I think early targets will be fairly concentrated in those positions.

I know this...but let a man hope...don't harsh my mellow man. :p

Linebackers make this defense go and if they think they can get a Brooks or Uhrlacher in the first round I'm all for it.

I would think DL make any D go. LBs are here to clean up what leaks through.

I just do not understand how they think they can have a dominant defense without a dominant tackle inside. I am not downing Crawford, but he is no more than a souped up Hatcher, which is a far cry from how Marinelli had success with Tampa with Sapp. It is okay to have a blob 1-technique if you have that disruptive 3-T. I just do not think Crawford is at that level.

DTs are important but I think we are at a level of competency that they are comfortable with like jterrell said above. I also don't know if they think there is a Sapp or Donald that will be there when we pick. If you take Derrick Brooks away on the Bucs or Brian Urlacher on the Bears, it's a much different defense. Last year when Wagner for the Seahawks went down against us they went into a slump until he got back. They ask a lot of the linebackers in this defense, when reporters asked Lee if he was having trouble learning the responsibilities he said yes we all are. I also think they are hoping to do something in the postseason this year and I'll bet they have very low confidence that Lee and McClain will be there.

Just a guess on my part, but I don't think they have any interest in Brown. No links that they talked to him at the combine, didn't work him out, no Dallas day visit, no official visit. Nothing.

I've heard there is definitely at least 1 player that they really like but that is not on the list of players that they've had contact with.

If the DT's are rotated, then a pick would possibly be on the field much less often, therefore making his value reduced by the same percentage.
Any valuation system should attempt to define critical snaps + level of contribution per snap, then judge the player's value per game by that standard.

Therefore the 'Boys would generally rate and pay OL more DL, unless the DL guy (like Hardy) is a three-down playmaker.

Blurt it out...don't be selfish and keep it to yourself.:cool:

I think that's accurate.
I think Dallas will pay for pass rush production and will show they value DL with roster and game spots but do not value singular non-pass rushers at high dollar values.

Guys who play every down gain value. See Sean Lee when healthy.

FB, SAM, back up TEs and back up DL rotate through here without ever earning big money.

Me too, but no one thought Floyd would drop a few years back.
True that you never know.
Last year, both Bridgewater and Manziel dropped right on past us and few would have picked BOTH to fall that far.

Floyd dropped, but not all the way to 27.

Never say never though, as they say.

Let's wait until he gets to Hatchers level before we call him a souped up Hatcher.

To me he is a ok talent that is injury prone.
