Nors, I've sorta resisted posting anything in this thread on your comparison of Fouts, Moon and Bledsoe.
And can you compare them? Certainly! No problem there at at all. But I think you have to take into consideration certain FACTS. Not generalizations, not guesses but facts when comparing all three quarterbacks.
Fouts first. Now I know you're not stupid Nors. I know that. And I know that you know that Fouts played under circumstances that were far different that what either Moon or Bledsoe played under.
First off several of Fouts seasons were only 14 games. Obviously that will affect the numbers.
Secondly you know as well as I do that the pass blocking/pass defense rules that existed in Fouts era were far different than those faced by either Moon or Bledsoe. To me that Fouts retired with a passer rating of over 80 given the set of circumstances he operated under in his career is phenominal in my opinion. You put that man in a 2000 offense and he would have ripped this league apart. I'm sure by starting his career in the mid-70's he lost probably a good 5 points off of his passer rating.
Moon lost as many have said, 5 very productive years of his career. To lose those years probably cost him a good 5 points off his passer rating also. Not to mention that if you tacked on even a minimal amount of yards, tds and what not for all the time lost that we would not even be coming Moon to Bledsoe right now-- because there wouldn't be any comparison. As far as the "run & shoot" stuff let me address that in the Bledsoe comment.
Drew-- as I've said before he's an above average quarterback. Competent yes. As good as Moon and Fouts-- no way. One only had to watch all 3 quarterbacks to see that Fouts and Moon were special. Drew is slighly below that. That shouldn't be insulting to Drew. Not everyone can be great. Just like when you compare yourself to Hos or Myself.

-- just kidding Nors... kinda.

You knock Moon for playing in a "run & shoot" offense. But wasn't it an offense quarterbacked by Bledsoe himself that set the record for most pass attempts in a season? I would be very careful about tossing around the word "gimmick offense".
