One other nice bonus about the signing...after watching the Brandon Moore: Why We Watch video on youtube, he should walk in and instantly be a great role model/leader/mentor for all the young guys on the line. Fred, Leary, Smith Arkin, Kowalski, they could all learn from him. Sounds like a complete class act and solid guy.

Love it. Next move is Livings getting an injury settlement or going on IR.

Smith - Leary - Fred - Moore - Free

Backups - Parnell, Bern, Costa, Arkin, Kowalski.

Love it.

It would need to be the latter. IIRC his salary is guaranteed for this season. Not gonna have an injury settlement with a guaranteed salary.

The most underrated part of this signing is that for the first time in years, the line will have a full month to get to know each other and build cohesion which is vital for the zone scheme.

He's 33, and word was he wanted 3-4 mill/season. Teams most likely wanted to see what they had before giving that kind of (guaranteed) money to someone that age. Being the front end of Butt Fumble probably didn't help.

The line looks like it could actually be good....

What will the "Jerry ignores the OL" crowd complain about now?

2 1st rounders in 3 years. 3rd interior lineman signed. Multiple guys developed into capable backups. We even got a rebate on one of our bad deals.

LT - Smith
LG - Leary
C - Frederick
RG - Moore
RT - Free

Backups - Livings, Bern, Costa, Parnell

Assuming Free can be the answer to right tackle, there's still a lot riding on the health of Free and Smith,,, sure hope Parnell can get it together!

Those signings...if we are being realistic and not just looking to bash the front office....were doomed by injuries.

Can you predict injuries?

Other than to Matt Johnson I mean.

Jason Garrett really hasn't fooled around when it's come to addressing personnel deficiencies. He's not afraid to churn. He's doing it elsewhere along the bottom of the roster again today. We're probably looking at another 8-10 players (that's a number I just pulled out of my backside, but you get the idea) every season over and above what other teams look at just because we're fairly dedicated about cutting and churning those bottom 2-3 guys. That process has brought us guys like Stirling Moore and, now maybe, George Selvie. Not too shabby when you can find contributing snaps walking around unclaimed on the street.

At least we have some decent depth there, we have nothing behind Free and Smith other than Parnell.

Love this signing, I'm glad they are trying to solidify the interior of the line and it has the potential to be a good, solid offensive line.

Those signings were both midling signings that we considered stop-gaps while we continued the process of juggling resources until we got the puzzle to fit. The dead money will be slightly more than incidental when it's all said and done between both players. And that's including the fact that the tenure of one of both players will likely be shortened by a legitimate injury.

I suspect we'll be happy that the situation is finally being addressed,,,, what, were you born just 3 years ago?

Talent acquisition since 2010 has been very good.

Shocking that people still haven't recognized that fact.

It's funny when I still see our 2009 draft brought up.

I'd be a lot happier at OT, too, if we had one more young, high-potential player there who might be able to give us something in a pinch. Or if one of our OGs were able to slide out to RT if we really needed it, since our top three guys can all play either OT position.
