More Ellis trade talk??

I personally think that would suck.

Not only would our pass rush be weakened considerably BUT it would pretty much kill any chance for Watkins ever starting at FS for the Dallas Cowboys. And I think that kid is going to be special.
As it stands right now, I'd trade Ellis for just about anything. Foolish? Maybe. I just don't think he's going to pull his weight or give it his best effort.

Of course he won't.

Purcell's pretty much screwed the pooch on this deal. Sure Ellis isn't without fault at this point. I just don't like the way the whole thing has been handled.

As it stands now Ellis probably won't be giving full effort and I can see our pass-rush taking a major hit this season. And if it does look for any SB aspirations to take a big dump.

I think if Ellis is on the roster he will play just as hard as always. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

greg ellis is not gonna make a major difference in our pass rush this year or any year after this, canty, hatcher, spears, ware, carpenter, burnett, boiman, johnson, ratliff, and williams will make up this teams sack statistics, and having a disgruntled mediocre at best player isnt gonna make a hill of beans one way or the other,..........
having said that i think a trade is imminent, but thought the NO thing was bs because of their number of de's, but we will see i guess, thanks guys for your time and opinions, made this post worth starting.........

Sorry, I can't agree with you that this is on Parcells. Ellis bears the weight of this on his own. He made up his mind that he won't fit the 3-4, doesn't like it, and is throwing a tantrum. Parcells and Jerry Jones have both assured him he can excel in the 3-4 and that he is needed. Not good enough for Greg. He wants "committment." It's more than a bit disappointing.

My guess is that everyone probably knew in the offseason that Ellis was going to throw a tantrum-- rightly or wrongly, I think everyone knew it.

And yet nothing was done. Trade the player, cut the player... do something. But don't just sit on your hands hoping the problem solves itself.

That's poor management.

I got news for ya scooter most of those guys aren't known for their ability to rush the passer. Ware of course... Carpenter had some pass rush ability in college and of course we know Hatcher did too-- but we're talking rookies here mate. If you think anyone you listed other than Ware has better pass-rush ability than Ellis then I'm going to sell you Hostile's house without him knowing about it. ;)

Cutting your second best pass rusher would be the height of poor management.

Since you don't know what we've been offered for Ellis, if anything, you really have no basis to call it poor management.

A while back, I had posted that I missed all but the last segment on NFL Sirius about Ellis gettin traded for a corner.....Well yesterday on my way home from work I heard what they were talking about. This was only their assumption of places Ellis ends up. If it is NO(they are loaded at safety), Ellis for a safety would be the scenario. I also heard a more intriging(sp?) Ellis to TB for Ronde Barber, moving Henry to FS. I would think that would be very interesting.....
Yeah.

Assuming that the Cowboys move Ellis (who knows?), I like the idea of the Cowboys getting a veteran of similar ability who plays a different position. Safety would be ideal, but a Guard, NT, WR, or LB might make some sense too.

But if the guy isn't going to give full effort as some have suggested then what do you do?

If I were 6-11 I'd be in the NBA.

Hypotheticals.....

I'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

How do you think BP will handle a player who dogs it on purpose?

When it's all said and done we'll miss him as much as anyone else BP has gotten rid of.

That might be realist in someone's world...

I think they had plans to use the player. The player has decided he doesn't want to be used.

That's poor judgment.

Bottom line the team is up and coming. That means that everyone is getting some playing time. It's become crystal clear that Greg Ellis would rather go get his PT from a scrub team than make a run at a Championship if it means he has to share his playing time.

As it stands right now, unless he strips his gears throwing his attitude into forward, I consider him about as useless as a gelding at a stud farm.

I'm glad you didn't use Brain's name there and hurt his feelings and such... ;)

I agree with your assessment Hos. It is possible that Ellis feels like he was sold a bill of goods earlier and that might be understandable. But I can't see how the public attitude helps his situation and most importantly his wallet.

It shouldn't but it probably will. Some team will think he's the missing piece of the pass rush puzzle and pay him more than he is worth once he gets released at the end of the season. I'd prefer to go ahead and trade him for a 2007 Draft pick, but I have no say on the matter. Nor should I.

Well, if it ends up helping his wallet, it explains why he's doing it. It's too bad for the Cowboys this year if it affects his play.

And you propose what?

Whining about something that hasn't happened yet?

Assuming posters that say he's going to dog it are correct?

Propose cutting our 2nd best pass rusher?

Whine about not trading him when you have no clue what the offers are?
