More overrated: Oline or Dez?

Easily Dez. They had 8-9 in the box to stop our running game. Then they exploited Free like a good defense should. But Dez? 1 catch for 8 yards? I've seen this too much from him. 1 catch for 8 yards doesn't happen to Julio Jones, OBJ, Fitzgerald, Amari Cooper, Antonio Brown, AJ Green or other truly elite receivers. I'm disappointed that after all these years he still can only run 2 routes: slant and jump ball. Pathetic.
He can run a slant? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm actually being serious. I don't remember him running a slant. I only see him running a go route and a fade. But I agree with you, it's pathetic that his game has not evolved into a more complete receiver. He's a one trick pony and when that trick isn't working then he disappears. He is not and will never be a Fitzerald, OBJ, Jones, Cooper, Brown or Green because they can do it all over the field with different routes and against quality corners. Dez got shut down today. 1 catch for 8 yards.

It's days like these when you realize we have some of the most passionate but sincerely dumb fans in all of sports.

In 2014, Dez goes for 88 catches, 1,300+ yards and 16 TDs and our fans kneeled at his alter.

In 2015, he jacks up his foot in Week 1 with the same injury that put fellow wideout Julio Jones out for the season. In fact, Julio Jones and Roddy White both commented that they had doubts Dez would be able to come back the same season because of the injury. Yet, Dez tries to come back to help the team, but is obviously hobbled. Not to mention, when he does come back he's paired with Matt Cassel.

The thing is, these fans know all of this, but they still knowingly ignore it and now Dez has suddenly become the "most overrated" player, stealing checks, a bum, et cetera.

Break out the Ban Hammer.
I'm not ignoring it and you make good points. I think in this thread, or maybe another one, the reason why I am so discouraged with Dez today is because he's healthy. The oline is healthy and we have a stud running back. Last year he played not so well but by the time he came back we as a team was struggling. The offensive line was struggling, the season starting RB was in jail or going to jail and we were on our backup RB and of coarse Cassell was throwing to him.

So Today I am discouraged and starting to feel like his best days are behind him because Bryant is totally healthy and we have the healthy oline, stud RB, and better QB. Bryant did not show up and was shut down. He didn't get open and dropped a TD pass. That TD pass being dropped, that's the difference in the game right there. It wouldn't have came down to Twill being an idiot and lunging for the 1st down with 3 seconds on the clock. Elite receivers make elite plays. Someone else mentioned it and I'll restate it but there is a disturbing trend with him holding on to the ball throughout the catch. It's like his mind is stuck in Green Bay when he made the catch and they over ruled it. Since then I think he's leading the league in reviewed catches.

So today for the first time I am starting to see that Bryant might not be elite anymore. We didn't lose the game because of our back up QB. We lost the game because our receivers and defense didn't get it done. Bryant is a big part of that receiving corps and he dropped a TD.

How many times have we seen Dez not control a ball well coming down? 2 or 3 times?

Now all of a sudden the guy who before last year was the best in the NFL at finding pay dirt can't catch a ball in the endzone? Please.

Dez and our Oline is incredible and this thread ******* sucks.

I agree it's an overreaction, but there are aspects that are rooted in truth.

All u have to do is get the ball in D re z han
OBJ hasn't had a one-reception game since he entered the league, but Dez has at least one every season. Let that sink in.
Obj is way better than Dez. Anyone that will not admit that is just a homer.

TO got forcefed which led to a lot of Romo interceptions but you have an agenda so carry on.

When has Romo ever thrown " a lot of interceptions"? you cannot compare Dez to a top 5 all time WR. I would take TO in his prime over Dez without hesitation. Stop being a homer.

Yep. His route tree is extremely limited. He is not very effective between the 20s to move the ball.

The OLine played a terrible game today for run blocking. I don't even think the Giants were loading the box with 8 defenders on most of Elliott's runs
