FEATURED Morning Pops!

Morning Pops. Morning Fellas and Kristie. Morning Zoners.

Well, little tired this morning but was a good Halloween all in all. Hope all of you had the same.

Looking forward to Thanks Giving now. Get my Fryers in order and get this show on the road. If anybody is interested, maybe we can talk a little bit about Thanks Giving recipes. I know this thread is more along the lines of remembering Pops and wishing each other good will the way I think he always did for us but I don't think he would mind much if maybe we talked a little turkey, if you will.

If anybody is interested, I am interested in doing the same. Would like to kinda try something a little different this year maybe.

Everybody, have a great day!

:)

Good idea. I've had real good success with Emeril Lagasse's brine soaked turkey recipe on foodtv.com. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/brined-and-roasted-turkey-recipe/index.html

It comes out very moist and tasty.

Morning Pops and Zoners

I saw my first Thanksgiving commercial last night and was shocked it took them this long to start showing them. :laugh1:

Good morning, Cbz and good morning to all loyal Cowboys fans. We got back from miami last night and I went from 83 degrees to 43 degrees. I could not wait to put my coat on.

As much as our Thanksgioving has passed, I will search for recipes as a matter of principle. I will avoid recipes for Pea Salad.;) Everybody have a great day.:D

Leon, I have used a very similar recipe and you are right, it's pretty good. Thank you for posting that.

In our house, one of the very simple recipes we use as a staple is Green Chili and Red Chili Gravy for the Mashed Potatoes. Of course, we also have traditional brown and giblet gravy but here in the SW, we also make Green and Red. The Green is simple, you just need fresh Green Chili chopped up fine, add spicy sausage, some turkey drippings, fresh garlic and salt to he taste. You can substitute cubed pork or ground beef if you like. It's all in the Green Chili really. For the Red, you can use a good powdered Red or you can take the dried Chili pods (which is what we do), remove the stems, soak the Red in Water (We usually do it overnite), take the Chili and blend it up well. Add garlic, salt and pepper. Take pork cubed and small cubes of potato and add all into a pan and bring to a slow boil, adding flour if needed. You can eliminate the cubed potatoes if you wish or substitute different meet. They use everything from Ground Beef to Venison around here. Cook it slow so the meet is not tough and have at it. It's great over Mashed Potatoes or Turkey or anything. Either one works just like a traditional gravy would.

Everybody, have a great day.

:)

Morning Cbz. Morning everyone and have a really good day.

ABQ, it's probably not as good as homemade but the HEB Stores here in Texas sell both green and red in jars. The red is hotter, but the green adds a good flavor to a lot of different dishes.

Green or red sauce --never an easy choice:D

Good morning Pops ---good morning all creatures great and small

Good morning, Cbz and the same to all Zoners, present or absent. BTW, i've never considered chili sauce on mashed potatoes. It sounds a bit scary, but don't knock it until you try it.

Everybody have a great day.:D

Phil, I don't guess a Pea Salad recipe would ever be out of bounds in this thread.

As far as the Red Chili over Mashed Potatoes, well, you haven't lived till you try it. Not talking the Pace stuff. Real Red Chili over Mashed Potatoes is pretty tasty.

Everybody, have a great day.

Give you another one ABQ ----take a good fresh cup of coffee, a package of hot chocolate mix and a teaspoon of ground red chilies and mix together ----Best drink you will ever have to start your morning.... or have it in hot chocolate without coffee in the cold evenings around the fire... If you are getting a sore throat make a tea out of ground red chilies(is actually good ). It is very good for you.

I have green chilies -red chilies --jalapeno peppers at least 3 times a day ....not counting what I cook in my meals ----keeps your arteries clean ,inflammation down in your joints and your heart healthy....plus its antiviral and bacterial and it thickens the lining of your stomach and protects it from virus:D ..

i think my husband would like that in his chili because he likes a little heat. :D
