FEATURED Morning Pops!

Morning Pops and goon sunday morning to all of you.

Enjoy the games today!

Have a good one !

:)

Morning Santiago...Zoniacs....early morning hooligans...

Did you know on this day...

1976 George Foreman KOs Ron Lyle in 5th round of a real slugfest (what a whacky fight that was!)

1935 - Krueger Brewing Company placed the first canned beer on sale in Richmond, VA. (this one's for you, Sarge)

1957- Wham-O company introduces the Frisbee. Notes from me: I love the history of stuff like this...the evolution of the Frisbee started in Bridgeport CT at Frisbie's bakery where if you brought back a pie tin, they gave you a nickel refund. The drivers for the bakery would occasionally take the tins and toss them to each other for fun.

The game of tossing the Frisbie's pie tins caught on at Yale University where students would engage in the game on campus.

Walter Morrison became aware of the popular campus game and created his own toy made of plastic and called it the Pluto Platter.

Long story short, The Whamo-O company purchased the patent...and since then, over 200 million Frisbee's (the name was changed for legal reasons) have been sold.

A few years ago, I created a calendar with each month featuring how different products, like the Frisbee, were invented.

Below is a picture I created in Photoshop (Yeah, I purchased an original Fribie pie tin on ebay for over $100!) for one of the months in the calendar.

Morning, Cbz. Morning everyone.

Nice photoshop, Juke. Purchasing that pie tin shows real commitment to your hobby. I have one question. If the Frisbee had a different name altogether when Wham-O purchased the rights to it why did they name it Frisbee? Did they trace down the history of it's evolution, or was it common knowledge?

Good morning, Pops and good morning to all you Zoniacs. Juke, I kind of like "Pluto platter", but I can see marketing issues with that. Will you be adding the "Flowbee" at some point? I was surprised (and horrified) to see that they're still making and selling them.

Morning Pops and good monday morning to all of you.

Colts/Saints it is!

Have a great day!

:)

They knew of the history after one of the owners of Wham-O had been at Yale college. They became aware of Frisbie's bakery and decided to change the spelling to avoid any legal complications.

As far as my hobby...I'm a big believer in positive visualization stuff. So scattered about my house, I have things from childhood that give me a positive association.

I've purchased, on ebay...a Polaroid Swinger camera...a couple of Aurora models (Dracula and Frankenstein)...a Danbury Mint Good Humor truck...a Give-A -Show projector..a Charlie Weaver bartender...an original "Password" game....and other stuff...and I'm not done yet. I also used to have a pen with a woman in a bikini. If you turned the pen upside down, her bikini fell off. I haven't looked for that on ebay....yet. :)

Morning Santiago...you're the only other one who'd know what any of this stuff is.

Morning Zoniacs...early morning hooligans..

Good morning, Cbz and good morning to the rest of you distinguished gentlemen. Juke, I've had a few of those pens over the years and they didn't write terribly well. In addition to that, my mother or teacher would find them and throw them away. I should have gone with the "they are an investment", but that didn't work with my collection of Playboy magazines either. :D

Morning Pops and good tuesday morning to all you guys.

Have a great day!

:)

On this date, 1988 Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera has its first performance on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre in New York. It's the first of over 4000+ performances.

I saw it and hated every minute of it. :)

Bobster, it was one of those, the girlfriend wanted to see it...and raved for days after we saw it, with me just sorta politely nodding my head in reaction to her. :)

And thanks on the CD. Lemme know which ones you liked the most...it's always important to find out what resonates with a listener.

It was that bad, huh? :)

No rush on the other thing...I have so much stuff to study for my certification that it's gonna take a year before I get through all of it.

We encountered a racoon last night. THAT was fun. So what I did was, I got my pooch to give me a "watch" and hold it for about 20 seconds and then her reward was, we took off after the racoon...who turned tail and ran...which was good for us cuz it could have kicked our butts.

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. ;)

Morning Pops. Morning fellas. Been busy of late but good to be home. Morning Zoners.

Have a great day everybody.
