Depends what you are looking for -- if you think we can replace Costa, that's not going to happen. If you think we can bring someone in so that we can actually get some plays run in pre-season, then that would be reasonable.

I think, though, a bunch hangs on Bern - I think the staff believes that Leary can play well enough to dress for games. Bern backed up at C his first 4 years so it isn't a stretch to think he's going to start at G and be the 2nd C on gamedays.

Has he ever done it under actual game conditions?

I remember with the Cowboys toying with Kosier for a while in practices too.

I would keep an eye on the Patriots' depth chart and see what they do on the offensive line.

They had 4 guys who played center for them last year - Dan Koppen, Dan Connolly, Ryan Windelll, and Nick McDonald. If one of those guys gets cut...

And I see McQ is snapping the ball today. He's going to make this roster as a C-G-T-TE

When the coach says they have looked at the waiver wire list and don't believe there is an upgrade relative to the players they already have that means that any of the names you guys are coming up with are not good enough. Keep trying though.

Pretty much obvious and common sense. Any position that loses their 2nd and 3rd stringers for all of camp and likely part, if not all, of the regular season is scouring for contingency plans.

I have a feeling Kowalski is pretty much done for. A mystery ankle injury should be getting better with rest, it shouldn't need to suddenly be put in a cast as time goes along. Nagy can't be put on the PUP since he practiced at the start of camp. The Cowboys will have to decide whether they can afford to carry him on the 53 until he's healthy, IR him, or injury settlement him.

Anyways the question was really about Arkin/Orton rather than Costa/Romo. Costa needs to get better but Arkin is playing a position that he's never played so there should be growing pains.

The other thing that Garrett just said in his PC is that they have "scoured the list" and they don't feel bringing anyone else in is a better option.

I think maybe Garrett is just trying not to single out the centers. Although, by admitting that they have 'scoured the short lists' for free agent centers he has already hinted that the issue is at that position.

Yeah,....believe it or not its worth it. Are we overpaying a bit? Yep. But if it means bringing in someone to anchor the line and run the whole interior for years to come its well worth it.
