Sometimes picks don't work out; it's not an exact science.

Yea, but that philosophy requires rational thinking and doesn't allow for pissing and moaning. Pissing and moaning is far more popular...

I'm not going to back track now, I liked the pick. Dallas had let Terrence Newman go and this was an opportunity to replace him with what many considered the top ranked CB in the draft.

How is Claiborne a worst pick than Barbie Carpenter? Mo has had injury problems but he's atleast started and can get on the field. Carpenter simply couldn't play.

the cost to draft him makes it worse, you simply can't miss when drafting this high and trading up in the process

still hoping for a miracle since he's here......

The thought Mo could be the worst pick in franchise history is frankly stupid.

We've drafted guys early round 1 that couldn't ever start in the league.

From a decision standpoint we've traded away multiple first rounders for WRs twice and THEN paid them elite WR money.

Mo has been a huge disappointment thus far and gambling on his talent hasn't panned out but he was the consensus top defensive player in his draft class and we got a plus value in the trade.

This year will be a deciding factor on his future so he has all the motivation he should ever need.
If he maintains a starting job this year it will be meaningful.

I'm not sure how realistic it is he returns regardless given we have younger, cheaper CBs and a lead dog signed long term in OScan.

I hated the pick. I didn't think he fit our scheme and I just was not all that impressed with his abilities to play in space, while at LSU. I absolutely hated the fact that we traded up as far as we did and gave up what we did. Having said all of this, there is still a chance. I admit that it is probably more likely then not that he doesn't work out but there is still a decent chance, IMO, that he does. I sure hope he does because he honestly sounds like a nice kid. Would like to see him have some success here. JMO

when drafted he fit the scheme.
a year later he no longer did.

our switch to more zone and multiple concepts and mo's injuries have been the main reasons he hasn't excelled here.

but he has already started 25 games as a Cowboy and that's a whole heck of a lot more than some other first round picks.

since his issues are mostly injury and learning the fact he is only 25 gives him plenty of chance to succeed in this league.
most CBs are not good early.

No. I never thought he fit the scheme. We didn't play man press and that's what he fits. We played a lot of zone, even before Ryan got here.

Still, I'm hoping he can get it turned around.

Bobby Carpenter in 2009 gave the team more than Claiborne ever has. He was a busted pick as well in terms of a first rounder, but he at least at some point in the contract had a positive contribution on the football field. Plus, Claiborne cost the 14th and 45th pick and Carpenter only cost the 18th.

Said it on draft day it was a dumb decision, this was clearly a Jerry Jones decision, because that's how he thinks, he believed you build from the outside/in and that never works especially when that team had more holes than Swiss cheese, you NEVER trade up in a draft.....this will be Claiborne's last year in Dallas since he can't cover his own shadow,..

it may have been the best draft pick by the Boys ever, after Jerry let his emotions get the best of him, Stephen Jones and the front office have wrestled control away from Jerry regarding drafting after that disastrous pick.
It's been all good ever since then

I think this is the exact reason Jerrah gave up complete draft control. I think this move and pick set them on their current draft course.

For that, I think it was the best pick we ever made!

My personal opinion is that Quincy Carter was the worst pick, that set us back.

I don't think he's the worst. Billy Cannon Jr. was, IMO, a worse situation.

Trading up wasn't the problem. Had we taken Kuelchy, Cox, Poe it would have been fine

that 8-8 team at the time had more holes than swiss cheese, you DON"T trade up when your team has a dozen holes to fill, they weren't one or two players away, if they were, I wouldn't have had a problem trading up for a player that they thought put them over the top.....I wanted Dallas to trade back and load up on more offensive linemen...something they finally figured out the last three years

And I'm ecstatic Steven is taking more and more control over day to day football operations, but every once in a while Jerry wants to take a flash player, that was Claiborne, remember Manziel, he wanted him and even stated taking a guard would only guarantee you 8-8....and this is the same guy that said the defensive line was a strong suit two years ago, .that's the logic that got this team 18 years without a Superbowl run....Finally this team is building the offensive and defensive lines where games are won!!

From what I understand JJ asked Rob Ryan what he needed and corner was the response. If things had played out to RR's liking we would have had Moe and Nmandi A as our starters...... yikes.......
