I think the obvious implications of this is that Jim Johnson is not coming back and Sean McDermott is now the Eagles DC.

I've been rooting for Jim Johnson to retire for about 6 years now. But I hate that it is under these circumstances. God bless him and his family.

Regarding McDermott, I don't know anything about him but the last guy to leave that team and become a DC (NYG Spags) is one heck of a coach. I already expect a drop off because they lost Dawkins leadership though.

I am glad I am not the only one. The eagles will get a great advantage playing against us from this.

Whats he going to tell them that they havent seen on film from Phillips 25 or so yrs as a DC in this league?

And obviously Stewart waasnt picking up on everything Wade was teaching anyway, because when Wade took over running the D last yr they improved by leaps and bounds. There was a TREMENDOUS difference in Stewart calling the D and Wade's half season of running it.

Not good news, the guy knows what our offensive and defensive weaknesses are...

So does everyone who studies film.

About the only concern would be if Stewart would tell them what our calls/audibles are.

And they dont get that from watching film. You know the first time Stewart goes to say something about our D, the Eagles are just going to say 44-6 dude, you cant tell us anything.

I'm not so sure he does, if he did he should have been able to run our D effectively

if that were such a big deal teams would never fire assistant coaches unless the entire staff were going with them

He didn't know much about our defense, so I'm not worried. Remember when our linebacker's coach went to Washington? Didn't do any good. We won't be the same defense now that Henry and Williams are gone.

That will be a huge blow to the aggressiveness of that Eagles defense, losing Dawkins, and now Jim Johnson, arguably the best DC in football, I think the birds will struggle and having Stewart there, just makes it more of a mess in terms of defensive cohesiveness, because his DC duties in Dallas diminished each and every week until Wade took away his play calling duties.

Maybe he'll work out for them, I say he'll be a disadvantage to that defense.

But congrats Brain on the new team and Job title, whatever that may be.

Yea, losing Dawkins is going to hurt. There was talk that Andy Reid was already grooming McDermott to become the DC when Jim Johnson was going to retire. Obviously, they didn't expect it to happen this way and this fast. I'm not quite sure how to react to the whole situation. We'll see if Johnson's "so called" protege , McDermott, can step in and not lose a step.

As for McDermott's resume....Sean McDermott enters his 11th season in Philadelphia. McDermott was named secondary coach on Jan. 28, 2008, after a successful one-year stint as linebackers coach in 2007. McDermott originally joined the Eagles in 1998 as a scouting administrative coordinator, a position he held until being promoted to assistant to the head coach in 1999. He has also served as a defensive assistant/quality control coach and an assistant defensive backs coach during his tenure with the Eagles.

I may be a rival fan, but I respect Jim Johnson like I do few coaches. I truly consider him to be one of the best pure football coaches I have ever seen.

I wish him well.

So why the reply, Einstein.

You've acquired pretty close to nothing on two legs. Nice job. Jim Johnson was the man. Bumpy roads ahead.

Does anyone actually care about this waste of a coach...the only significant contribution he made in Dallas was the fact that some of his salary went to the State for taxes...

I'm gearing up for 44-6 part deus. :laugh2:

Remember the last time we met up with an assistant that knew the team inside and out?

Last year with Cincy and Zimmer?

Not sure if that is the one you mean or not?

Ah, so it was another pathetic slap down the Cowboys post.

Gotcha.
