First, using your own argument, we also have a RC (Henry), we have a Nickel back (one of Glenn, Reeves, N. Jones, Butler).

Second, teams draft for depth as well as immediate needs. The Boys have thier starters set, i believe. What they need to do is get younger in certain positions (WR, RC, OL) and solidify thier depth at multiple positions (depending on Ellis' health and where Carpenter eventually lines up these include, OLB/ILB, OL, NT, and QB).

I do agree with you, however, picking a solid CB with the first pick is what i want to see. To me, this gives them a lot of flexibility for going into the season. Henry is getting up there but more importantly his injury is a big concern to me. if he reaggrivates his injury the rookie CB (granted he is one of the top 3-5 CB in the draft) might be able to step in in his place. Also, if our FS position doesn't improve this season (even with the addition of Hamlin and a full year under Watkins belt) then, if healthy, Henry can slide there and the rookie CB can take his spot at RC.

Just my two cents!
Just to ratify and validate what you are saying here. This is the question posed to Jerry, and his response.

Q: So are you expecting the #22 pick to compete for a starting job?

A: Yes, we think we can line up right away at every position today. So there will be competition for every draft pick. Even a CB drafted in the first round will have to compete for the nickel corner position; because we have someone already on the roster that we think can play there.

The truth shall set you free.

Henry will be the starter this year. Glenn will be the one on the hot spot- if we draft a CB high. He did seem to lose something in the second half last year. Henry is a very solid corner; as long as he is healthy he will start.

He should be. He's our highest paid corner.

I got lots of video that says otherwise.

Trade with the Texans if AD is there at #10.

Julius Jones (probably 3rd round value)
This years 1st and 5th and next years 2nd.

Texans are looking to get their 2nd rounders back since the trade with Atlanta.

This makes sense to me. Of course, all depends on if Adrian is there at #10.

More draft nonsense.

Julius is not going anywhere.

Jerry needs to be careful what he wishes for. I think AP is a bigger talent than JJ but he's not going to last very long in this league. JMO

Why would Dallas want to trade one of their young stars?

Doesn't make a "lick of sense."

I kind of get the same feeling.

You want a runner that gives it his all and is not afraid to bang in there but at the same time I just get the feeling he is the type of guy that can be a monster but also fade out quickly due to injuries and style.

Who knows at this point, that is just a gut feeling and about the only good things gut feelings are for is to tell you to visit the restroom most of the time.:D

Star? Jones has not shown himself as a star player he has shown himself as inconsistent. RB do not take this long to show what they can do in the NFL. Add to that Jones is in the last year of his contract so Dallas risk losing him after next season.

I like Jones but I think the term Star is being used loosely. Star players are consistent in their performance they bring it week in and week out. This is not what I have seen in Jones. I do think Peterson is a guy who will be an elite back in this league who has both power and speed. As I mentioned in other post I have seen this franchise with great backs and years without great backs. With top RB on this team we have won 5 SB (Thomas, Dorsett and Smith) we have 0 without

That's nonsense.

Julius' numbers are very respectable.

2,896 yds in 37 games.

I was being sarcastic, as you probably knew. I think Jones is just a marginal starting back at the present time. I am on the Peterson bandwagon because I believe that adding him would improve this team more than adding any other player in the draft, and that improvement would be substantially better than what we have right now.

He isn't horrible, but to say he is more than average is a stretch.

Henry has been a better Corner for us than JJ has as a runningback ..... and I think JJ has been good.
