Most underrated Cowboy of all time on O, D & STs, by Cowboys fans?

Herb Scott. All he did was do his job well. Very well.

"Bullet" Bob Hayes
Cliff Harris
Charlie Waters
Septian

I remember that for years Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters were regulars on the pro bowl squad.

Cornish played out the '93 season and started at center after Stepnoski got hurt, and they went on to win the Superbowl with him at center, if I'm not mistaken.

K-Dub turned out to be a useful #2 WR in the '95 supebowl season and make some clutch catches along the way, so I wouldn't say he was horrible, he wasn't Harper but he wasn't horrible.

I'll agree that Jeffcoat was underrated, but Bates and Novachek got their probowls and notoriety for their play.

The NFL created a special pro bowl position in honor of Bates' play, so I can't say he was underrated. Jeffcoat was a clutch player in the '80s, making big plays in big games.

Wow! Talk about spanning the generations. :)
Thoams was one of the most gifted backs to play the game. Unfortunatley his attitude cost him what I really feel was a HOF career. He very easily could have been mentioned in the same breath as Payton and Emmitt and Jim Brown.

Hard for me to put Septien on any list. Boy, he was a very good kicker.

Unfortunately, the idiot got in trouble....I'm not sure how his case came out, but he's a sicko if he did.

defense - tony tolbert. i always said ellis will wind up with a tony tolbert type of career and that ain't bad. it's not HOF stuff, no. but there's something about those players who come to play every day. no, i never could have predicted the niagra falls of crap to come out of ellis's mouth these days, but now i'm digressing and talking ellis, not tolbert. it's ok, though. all part of being underrated.

offense - kelvin martin. he was one of the ones that you could depend on for a great play when needed.

special teams - james washington - boy could HIT!

Don't you have to do something noteworthy before being considered "underrated"?

How come Golden Richards does not get any love!

I cry racism here! RACISM, RACISM, RACISM!!

I just think that he was used improperly, and we had poor coaching...He could have been a very good back, and I liked his skill set...

Did you even contribute to this thread?

Yes, I did.

I just did not bother to mention an obscure player and draft reach who never was able to play a down of meaningful football after he was cut from a very bad football team as you did.

Those three career touchdowns must really have made an impression on you.

Then maybe you would understand the player I picked. It just said UNDERRATED....and I felt that he was...and HE DID play a down of meaningful football for OHIO STATE and the DALLAS COWBOYS. Lastly,
you did NOT contribute to this thread....

Notice I said AFTER he was cut by a very bad Dallas Cowboys team.

You do not read very well.

Or you do not understand what "underrated" means as a concept.

Lastly,
you did NOT contribute to this thread....

Apparently you REALLY do not read very well.

First of all I said he was underrated, and he was. You didn't contribute, you piggy-backed off of someone elses response...contributing to the thread meant naming your three guys, which you FAILED to do. You just criticized mine.....I do read well as a matter of fact and I STILL feel that Michael Wiley was underrated. I felt like he had a good skill-set and had he been on another team, he may still in the league. I had him rated as a good back most people would have rated him as a poor back, which is the REASON he was UNDERRATED to ME.

There was nothing wrong with either of your two other choices. Both Nguyen and Swinton fit the profile of "underrated". They both contributed something, yet never got the publicity or credit they deserved.

And Wiley had 31 other teams to catch onto. He didn't. So what happened? Did the 31 other teams just fail to catch on to that one thing that would have made him stay in the league?

If you are related to Michael, just say so.

I guess we need a definition of "underrated." My personal definition (and take it for what it's worth) is someone who never made a pro bowl. IMHO, when they make a pro bowl, they are then "rated."
