Move on from the Turpin experiment

If all they're going to do is use this kid for Kickoff team or punt returns then it's time to punt on him. I'm sure there are other players who can help this club more than Turpin has. He had an opportunity to run back a punt, but called a fair catch with NO ONE AROUND HIM! The Colts kick return guy ran every kickoff back, I don't believe he let one ball bounce in the inzone. Now that dude had some balls on him with his play!

Is anyone else ready to test someone else on kick return? I've seen Turpin run right into guys instead of trying to avoid them. I mean he does have the speed to get to the outside and blow past guys right?? Maybe try #34 back there, see what's happens or even Tolbert. We can't say he hasn't been kicked to, because he has several times .

Look up his numbers and how he ranks and come back and revisit.

I believe that you will see some wrinkles with Turpin in the playoffs. He has had an odd year coming from another league. He flashes and could have that pivotal play in the Superbowl run.

Great analogy.

My son knows the kid who returns punts for the New England Patriots. Met him at several camps. Can't remember his name. I think Jones. Anyway, he's small as Turpin (maybe thicker), but was an excellent special teams player. Made his way onto the Patriots roster for special teams.

People underestimate special teams players, but it's not for the faint-hearted.

But to answer the question, the No. 1 quality for a returner is BALL SECURITY. Turpin is as sure as they come.

Also, he ranks 11th out of 70 punt returners with a 12.4. And only two returners have scored touchdowns this year.

He's doing fine as far as I'm concerned. He'll break one eventually. But as long as he catches the ball and doesn't fumble, I'm good.

Marcus Jones is an outstanding player. The Cowboys were interested in drafting him also. The Patriots got him in the 3rd round. He was the best kick returner in the draft and can play offense and defense. They used him on offense in their last game and he made a touchdown. He also had the game winning punt return for a td against the Jets.

I read every post, and I don't remember seeing anyone agree with his stance.

and we can’t block the gunners. Watch teams good at punt returns. watching the Pats, there is often 10 clear yards when the returner catches the ball
