This isn't even the worst thread.
There's another thread where a bunch of fools are arguing about a
no-call on a fumble that was recovered by the guy who fumbled... smh.
9 pages on that mess so far!

The OP thinks Dalton Schultz's "fumble" was the turning point because
the refs missed it. Again, Schultz "recovered" it. People can be real dumb.

And two of those people were calling the game and wondered why it wasn't
challenged... lol/smh

I'm convinced these have to be trolls. Although maybe that's just what I need to do to retain my own sanity

Just saying, you have know idea the field perspective for a returner on kick offs and punts if you have never seen it from their perspective.
It's like getting shot at and trying to avoid the bullets.

Sweet frickin' Moses!! Pollard got tackled for a loss last night, I guess we should cut him. Zack Martin gave up a QB pressure, should we release him?? Micah didn't get that interception he had in his hands, do we not pick up his fifth year option?? These posts are getting absolutely ridiculous!! So stupid.

Huh? He is 2nd in the league in average yards for punt returners.

Literally the only negative to Turpin’s game as a returner is the fact that he is taken down pretty easily, but that’s because of his size which allows him to be as fast as he is anyway.

He’s so shifty, a threat to pickup big yards every time he fields a punt or kickoff, and is secure with the ball. I don’t know what else you want him to do.

I have zero desire to bench Turpin on special teams. This feels like an overreaction.
Not an over reaction. It;s an attempt to look smarter than everyone else.

As if even Deion NEVER "ran into somebody else".

He's fine...making good decisions, getting some yards, and no fumbles.

I'm not sure if it's Bones or Turpin but a few times he took the ball out of the end zone only to be way short of the 25.

Now the TV angles are terrible to see if it was just bad blocking or if it was doomed from the start.

Punt return wise he's been great. Just think we are a tad too aggressive taking the ball out of the endzone.

I'm perfectly fine with Turpin as the the kick and punt returner. He's done very well on punt returns and atleast average on kick returns. However, kick returns in general due to rule changes have been a dissapearing craft. I almost hate when we take the ball out because there seems to be a high probability of a holding or block in the back call that puts us back on the 10.

Great analogy.

My son knows the kid who returns punts for the New England Patriots. Met him at several camps. Can't remember his name. I think Jones. Anyway, he's small as Turpin (maybe thicker), but was an excellent special teams player. Made his way onto the Patriots roster for special teams.

People underestimate special teams players, but it's not for the faint-hearted.

But to answer the question, the No. 1 quality for a returner is BALL SECURITY. Turpin is as sure as they come.

Also, he ranks 11th out of 70 punt returners with a 12.4. And only two returners have scored touchdowns this year.

He's doing fine as far as I'm concerned. He'll break one eventually. But as long as he catches the ball and doesn't fumble, I'm good.
