They already moved the team with the least rivalry tradition and non-sensical geography … The Cards.

Saw an NFL Network Top 10 episode about Top 10 Best Rivalries and NFC East matchups were almost half the list. So my guess is not in your lifetime.

Here is some history.
when Seattle and TB entered the NFL. Seattle was in the NFC, I want to say Central.
TB was AFC West i think.

The following year, Seattle went to the AFCW, TB to the NFCC.

I can’t remember the reasons behind that though.
I remember that. Only for one year in 1976. Both teams were in the west. Then after Tampa was moved to the NFC central, for years the other 4 teams wanted them out of the division. Revenue reasons.

Never understood why they moved the Cardinals from the NFC East to the NFC West.
Small market team…..$$$$$
All boiled down to money. Us playing the NYG, Philly, or Wash will always be worth way more $$$ than watching us win a terrible division and beating up the Rams and Cardinals.
NeverMind the fact that getting a weak division has often been a steady path to the Super Bowl….

It makes no sense for Dallas to be in the East but there's too much tradition there to do anything about it now.
yep, yep. Dallas is like Apple Pie in the East. ;)..
Dallas played all three of those teams in their inaugural 1960 season.

Since then....120+ plus games - regular season + playoffs- against each of those franchises. (Next most - the Cardinals, at 90 games.)

..who even comes up with this stuff? Yes sir, Mr Gordy and his ideas for EURO NFL. Which translates to more $$$$$$.

Anyways, fun read and ideas more than interesting.

Moving Dallas
I can totally se the point with moving Dallas out of the East because of how far teams have to travel for divisional games. It would suck at first but we'd get over it soon enough. But I am against two teams in the same state in the same division. Two teams sharing the same stadium, like the Giants and Jets, in the same division would be even worse.

But how do you argue that rearranging divisions reduces travel time then create four teams in Europe and make US teams travel all the way to Europe for 5 or 6 games there?

I am a solid no on creating European teams. No, and hell no. No other sports has done that and for a good reason. Just leave that idea where it belongs, flushed down a toilet somewhere.

It’s inevitable…whether we like it or not

Never understood why we were in the nfc east instead of nfc south to begin with.

I know this will never happen, but it only makes sense for the NFL to realign teams geographically. The Cowboys, Texans, Cardinals and Saints all belong in the NFC South.

Moving Dallas
id say 99%, they arent moving the DC ,they can add a team to the East as we only have 4 with the Cards here, so who knows but 1% shot at moving Dallas out..dont see it happening there many teams in divisions with little to no rivalry's that can be reshuffled.

Who thinks of this crap? 9 divisions? Only a jackass would do that. If you have 36 teams it should be 3 divisions of 6 in each conference. An 18 game season. Play 10 games in the division, 4 outside the division, and 4 outside the conference. This is not hard stuff. It's basic common sense.
They won't do that because nobody will be willing to go back to having to sell a 6th-place team.

Go back and read comment\post #18 in this thread.
That is the answer is why the Cowboys got into the NFL Eastern Conference (and later the Capitol Division) in the 1960s; then were put in the NFC Eastern Division during the NFL-AFL Merger in 1970.

why can't Jerry just bribe all the owners to let him have another trophy? We know this crap ain't real, so what would it take for him to buy a few more trophies?

I would love the move out of the NFC East. Dallas ,New Orleans and Houston should be a much bigger rivalry than it is especially Dallas and New Orleans.
I always thought it was an advantage for Washington, Philadelphia and NY Giants that they're just a short bus ride or quick flight from each other while Dallas has a 4 or 5 hour flight 3 times a year. Those guys play each other and they're back in their cities in a hour or two.

They were nothing more than an afterthought within the division!
Pretty much, however they did win the NFC East in back to back years in 74 and 75. Those were a couple of pretty good teams with Jim Hart at QB Terry Metcalf at RB and Mel Gray at WR. I was following the Cowboys back then and remember those Cardinal teams well.
